New favorite photo of all-time!
Hey! Like my NEW balcony view? Perhaps a parking garage isn't super glamorous, but I'm thrilled I still have a private balcony to photos on. I used to do public photos and while I admit some of the best style bloggers in the biz do their photos that way...I....just...can't....go...back. I still have a few posts utilizing my old balcony so when they appear know that I didn't move back to Colorado! I decided to use one of my newer photosets today because a) I'm excited and b) the outfit I was about to post was way too similar to my last outfit.
This dress was my first ever Bernie Dexter dress! I got it at the end of 2013 which means we're about to celebrate our 4th anniversary together. I had NO idea that such an obsession with this brand was about to ensue when I got it. It was on ModCloth and I stalked it until the price was lowered. I love elephants so naturally I was drawn to this dress. (For anyone a little bit confused, Bernie and ModCloth parted ways a few years back so you're not going crazy if you're surprised this dress is from ModCloth. You can no longer find Bernie Dexter there.) If anyone is curious about the cut/style, this is a Sugardoll dress (or as it was renamed on ModCloth, the I'm All Cheers Dress). I believe this style is currently out of production, but there's plenty on eBay and Poshmark still. I highly recommend this style; I find it flattering and comfortable.
Though I love this dress and I categorize it as a piece in my closet that I will never part with, I don't wear this dress a ton. Something about it being grey makes it feel more formal for everyday use, but I think I'm being silly and that's just in my head. I've been wanting to play around using different colors to style this dress (in the past I believe I've only ever used pink shoes and a pink cardigan) and I (sort of) accomplished that this time. My shoes's color block utilizes most of the colors in the dress. There's also a lot of tiny red details in the print so I thought it'd be fun to wear some red to make that pop. And below I'm wearing a green jacket to bring out the greens that are also in the dress.
Sunglasses- Buffalo Exchange (Denver)
Jacket- Members Only
Purse- Kate Spade
Shoes- Nine West
You may remember this Members Only jacket from the spring. I've been wearing it to death since arriving in LA as it can be cooler at night and many places blast the air conditioning. It's super soft to the touch and matches (almost) everything I own, which is why I've been favoring it.
I feel like I've FINALLY gotten used to my new bonkers schedule, and of course this is coming right before a week where nationally everyone's schedule gets a little goofy with the holiday. What this means is I'll be continuing to post here and there the next week, but the following week I'll be 100% back to a set schedule. In case this is anyone's first time reading Grace Rock Kelly Roll, I recently relocated to Los Angeles from Denver so I could pursue my comedy career more full-time. I'm currently taking classes at Upright Citizen's Brigade and The Second City and between school and other engagements at these locations I feel like I've moved into the theaters! This outfit was photographed right before heading to UCB to watch a Harold Night with some of my new friends. More on all of this another time though! For now, I'm honest to goodness having a blast and wouldn't trade the occasional sleep deprivation for the world!
I hope everyone else is loving life right now, or at least is figuring out how to do so! Have a great Thursday!
