Save the Planet with this ModCloth Maxi Dress

Welcome to another Monday, Grace Rock Kelly Roll readers!  Man, I came down with a nasty cold about a week ago!!  As you may know I have a bunch of reoccurring conditions and disorders but I very rarely get what I call "normal people illnesses"!  So imagine my surprise when I woke up Tuesday morning with a sore throat!  So please forgive me for going awol!

Luckily I photographed this outfit a bit back and it's been dying to make it's blog debut!  This dress is by ModCloth and it's called the Courageous Connection Maxi Dress in Activist.  The print has all kinds of environmental scenes and has font like "Don't Pollute" all over the dress, which is why it's called "activist".  I HIGHLY recommend this dress and I discuss it more in the video below!

Rounding out the style details we have an alligator necklace from Designosaur (via Coconette-Oz).  I wanted to have a pop of color and this teal number seemed to be perfect for this dress!  I kept the rest of the color scheme central with Kate Spade earrings and bag, plus Old Navy sandals.

I bet you're thinking that soon I'll be ditching the sandals since it's October now, right?  Well, I meant to announce this last week on the blog (I have announced it on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook already so please follow there if you don't already so you never miss a beat!) but I'm MOVING TO LOS ANGELES later this month!  It's all happening really fast and yet it's been a very long time coming.  I'm excited but bummed to say goodbye to Colorado and it truly became my adoptive home state.  Anyway, I have more coming up on what's going on with my move and will update you on my new life as a California girl.

I missed a lot of opportunities to post this past week!  Coming up this week I have new videos, the return of Blair Reads Books, plus new outfit posts!  I'm also going to release my second New York travel post and a very belated post on feelings I have about life as I just had a birthday.  And in case you missed it, I have a new Just Shair video (we now play fake terrible great therapists who answer Youtubers questions named Gilda and Matilda).  I was also on my friends's podcast last week, the Clint and Zach Podcast.  We officially discuss apps on phones and nostalgia (like old school TV shows) but we tread into all kinds of other territory like unicorns, Andrew WK, and um, sewers.  Please have a listen HERE!  (Also on iTunes and in your Podcast app that comes with your iPhones--if you have one!)

  1. I love maxi dresses and I loved this one! With sandals, but yes, soon time for boots :) Loved the bag as well and you always look beautiful! Hope everything is OK (healthwise). Wishing you a lovely Tuesday!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Comedy and Tragedy

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.  I generally hate cliche quotes that can easily be slapped on memes or on the coffee mug of a basic b!tch, but I'm hard pressed to find a better phrase to describe my life currently.  In short: I've been having the most fun that I've ever had in the eight months since I moved to LA, but then the emergency breaks got slammed on my life when my mother fell gravely ill and passed away two weeks later on June 6th.
I'm currently back in LA, after being gone for three weeks.  I'm looking forward to continuing my comedy journey, as I feel it will save me from myself at this time.  But while I'm functioning okay as I'm still in a great deal of shock and my current mode is auto pilot, certain hours of the day prove to me that I'm very jumbled up and confused about my mom's passing.  I suddenly don't know what I'm in for and I don't know what I'm doing.
Not knowing what I'm doing …

Ocean Front Members Only

Is this a style post only I could bring you or what?  Not only did I mix prints (three times, as the Forever 21 shirt is gingham, the ModCloth briefcase is dinosaur printed, and my true vintage skirt is an ocean front border print!) but I'm mixing vintage with modern fashion.  It seems that many vintage-y bloggers tend to stray from any trends, which is silly to me because these bomber jackets are SO comfortable and practical for between seasons weather (and frankly, Members Only IS a vintage brand)!  I tied this whole look together with using the Members Only Satin Washed Boyfriend Jacket in burgundy with these platform heels from Amazon by Dadawen.  I feel the burgundy bookends bounce off the greens and blues nicely.

How's everyone's week been?  Thanks for allowing me to take a week off!  Not only did I have obligations at the Comedy Central Stage and the Upright Citizen's Brigade stage this week, but I was hosting one of my very best friends who came to visit me!  …
