Greetings from LA! That's right! I'm a Los Angeles resident now! My stuff won't arrive for the next week or so and I don't yet have Internet hooked up to my new apartment (I'm writing from a hotel currently as I'm getting the keys to my new place later this afternoon), but I have officially moved out of Denver, so I will have the time to be posting more frequently from here on out. YAY!
Emily and Fin is one of my new (to me) favorite designers of 2017. It took me a hot minute to get into them, but eventually I just couldn't resist their novelty prints. I prefer their button down dresses because I'm such a sucker for shirt dresses and Emily and Fin arguably does them best. I got this number from ModCloth (Too Much Fun Dress in Alfresco Feast) a few weeks back and love it. It was a gamble because I got a Too Much Fun dress (Emily and Fin lovers--what's the name E&F gives this dress on their site? I'm still learning the names of styles 🙈) years back and kind of hated it. I prefer slightly lower necklines and I had issues with the keyhole button (it was a hard fit). So I assumed this style was not for me. But I really loved this print and I thought though it's a summery print it would work for fall, and even into winter, due to it being against a black background. I tried to emphasize the fall motif with red Nine West shoes and yellow J Crew Factory cardigan.
This dress was also a sizing gamble as I got an XS when I prefer an XXS for Emily and Fin. I know for a fact XS fits me from experience, but it's always a risk when you go outside your size norm. I think this fits really well and I love that the waist is slightly relaxed. I love this dress so much I actually bought it for my mom for her birthday! She told me she's wearing it today on a lunch date with friends!
Rounding out this outfit I wanted to play with ALL the colors using my Erstwilder Cera Says Hello brooch, DesignosaurYEAH alligator necklace, and my teal Kate Spade bag to bring out the teal in the dress. You would think all of this would be too much but I liked how all the quirk and colors play off each other.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! Thanks for being patient in my absence!
