Twinsie Tuesday #3: Milla of Miss Milla Cherry in a Vintage Barbie Print Skirt by Dazey LaRue Designs

It's Tuesday...which can only mean one thing: it's time to twin!  This is a special collaboration because Milla and I go back a few years now and have already guest posted on each of our blogs in the past (HERE and HERE).  Most emails about twinning so far have been relatively casual, as me and a potential twin go over options we know we have in common and then decide.  This time I specifically emailed Milla because she wore this amazing Barbie skirt by Dazey LaRue back in December and my face turned into the heart eyes emoji (for reference: 😍).  Say what you will about Barbie, but I've always been a fan no matter how old I get!  Given that this print is all vintage Barbies and I even went as the first ever Barbie for Halloween back in 2014, I pretty much immediately purchased this skirt.

Since Milla is the only lady I know who also has this skirt, I really wanted the opportunity to twin with her in it!  Major ups to this Aussie lady for introducing me to this skirt!! I hope you enjoy this Barbie based Twinsie Tuesday!!

What was your process for styling this outfit?

Milla: As the skirt has two shades of pink in it, I wanted to focus on that colour, plus isn't it Barbie's favourite colour!?  I also know that pink is also one of my favorite colours to wear!

Lauren-Blair: Honestly, I could find the yellow shirt I wanted to pair with this skirt, ha.  I found my SNL Gap Girls shirt and realized because it's black and white it would match and add some further whimsey.  Barbie plus Chris Farley?  These are a few of my favorite things, so not finding my yellow shirt was a happy accident!

How frequently do you wear this brand?

Milla: Hardly ever; this skirt is the only piece I own from Dazey LaRue Designs.

Lauren-Blair: I'm going to sound like I'm cheating off Milla, but same!

How frequently do you wear this skirt?

Milla:  Not very often.  I've only worn this Barbie skirt maybe two or three times because I only have weekends and holidays to dress pinup/vintage.  I actually work 5 days a week and my work requires me to wear a uniform!

Lauren-Blair: This is another winter purchase that got buried for too long.  I got it at the end of 2016 and pieces from end of the year often get buried throughout winter and spring for me, as my style default is "forever summer".  I've been thinking about this piece a lot though and was thrilled to finally wear and style it again.  This will be in heavy rotation for the next few months though!

What made you want to buy this skirt?

Milla: I saw this skirt on Instagram towards the end of last year and straight away I wanted to own it, as when I was a young girl Barbies were my favourite childhood toy.  I also love the colours and the vintage style Barbies all over it.

Lauren-Blair:  I've always been a Barbie girl at heart so it was more impossible to NOT buy the skirt seconds after I saw Milla in it.  Upon getting it in the mail, I must say I'm impressed with the quality!  It reminds of of actual vintage fabrics and lays on me similarly as my true vintage novelty skirts.  So this was an amazing impulse buy!!

Have you been able to style it in other ways than you have today?  Why or why not?

Milla: Yes, I've actually previously blogged about it in a different style.  (HERE)

Lauren-Blair: Same!  (HERE)

Just For Milla: You've been to a few pinup festivals!  What have your experiences with them been like?

Milla: A positive one.  I always enjoy going to pinup style festivals.  I catch up with liked minded friends and even meet new fellow pinup ladies.  It's so great to see everyone's different takes and styles for pinup and vintage dressing.

To buy this amazing skirt (that we both highly recommend!) click HERE and please click the store front HERE to peruse more fun prints, including other Barbie options!!  And to follow Milla, here are the links to her Blog/Instagram/Facebook!  Tune back next week, as PUG may or may not be involved, as well as a fellow rocker babe after my own heart! #spoileralert!  Please check back throughout the week until then, thank-you to Milla, and have an awesome day!

  2. Both of you have such gorgeous and unique styles. Oooo pin up festivals sound like fun?! :O, a few months back I actually found out there's a pin up store in my town and I was obsessed when I went in. Too bad at this point I don't really have money to clothes shop but when I do... ;)

Go CUBS!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Comedy and Tragedy

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.  I generally hate cliche quotes that can easily be slapped on memes or on the coffee mug of a basic b!tch, but I'm hard pressed to find a better phrase to describe my life currently.  In short: I've been having the most fun that I've ever had in the eight months since I moved to LA, but then the emergency breaks got slammed on my life when my mother fell gravely ill and passed away two weeks later on June 6th.
I'm currently back in LA, after being gone for three weeks.  I'm looking forward to continuing my comedy journey, as I feel it will save me from myself at this time.  But while I'm functioning okay as I'm still in a great deal of shock and my current mode is auto pilot, certain hours of the day prove to me that I'm very jumbled up and confused about my mom's passing.  I suddenly don't know what I'm in for and I don't know what I'm doing.
Not knowing what I'm doing …

Ocean Front Members Only

Is this a style post only I could bring you or what?  Not only did I mix prints (three times, as the Forever 21 shirt is gingham, the ModCloth briefcase is dinosaur printed, and my true vintage skirt is an ocean front border print!) but I'm mixing vintage with modern fashion.  It seems that many vintage-y bloggers tend to stray from any trends, which is silly to me because these bomber jackets are SO comfortable and practical for between seasons weather (and frankly, Members Only IS a vintage brand)!  I tied this whole look together with using the Members Only Satin Washed Boyfriend Jacket in burgundy with these platform heels from Amazon by Dadawen.  I feel the burgundy bookends bounce off the greens and blues nicely.

How's everyone's week been?  Thanks for allowing me to take a week off!  Not only did I have obligations at the Comedy Central Stage and the Upright Citizen's Brigade stage this week, but I was hosting one of my very best friends who came to visit me!  …
