Excuse me, but this dress is amazing! I hate to play favorites with my clothing, but this is a SERIOUS #1 dress contender! I'm assuming you want, nay, NEED this dress, so I'm going to cut to the chase:
The brand? Trashy Diva.
The print? Psychedelic Ferns.
The dress? Helena.
I've wanted this Helena dress in Psychedelic Ferns since last summer or fall (whenever it debuted). The print seemed cool and unlike anything in my closet, but the more traditional Trashy Diva styles like midi skirts and 1950s dresses it also comes in weren't calling my name. I love me a dramatic maxi dress and I love all things from the 1970s. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure if this dress is 1970s based or based on a 1940s style gown, but either or it's very much one of my favorite styles of dresses so I "needed" it.
I love Trashy Diva but I'm not as rabid as some of their fans. (That may be changing though.) There's NOTHING wrong with the brand, but sometimes the prices scare me off. Come the most recent holidays they did some great sales, but this dress in my size was snagged before I could grab it, ugh. I was bummed and mourned for a few minutes before cutting my loses. As you may know, Trashy Diva has the highest resale prices on eBay and other resale sites so if I miss something from them I just assume I won't ever acquire it.
Upon seeing their Christmas in July Sale a few weeks back, I noticed this bad boy had been restocked and I decided that I couldn't miss out on this again! (Historically Trashy Diva doesn't do many restocks but that appears to be changing.) My gawd, am I glad I got a second chance with this dress! First off, the print is even more dynamic in person! I tried to convey this as much as possible in these photographs by pairing it with my bright pink Kate Spade bag to have all of the bright colors play off one another. Secondly, the circumference of this dress is dramatic! I believe it's a full circle, which is rare for maxi dresses! And thirdly, it fits like a dream! I feel like this dress was made for me and given that it's adjustable via a halter neck and a second tie around the bottom on my rib cage it makes me confident it will fit for a long time in the future. (For measure I'm wearing a size 0.)
Being that I received this dress in the dead of summer, I was afraid I wouldn't get to wear it until the fall as I try to stay away from longer lengths when it's hot out and enjoy my summer sundresses. For better or for worse, the weather has been chillier lately so I got to wear this on a night out with a dear friend from back home was was in Denver for business. And...now I NEVER WANT TO TAKE OFF THIS DRESS! Seriously, anytime Trashy Diva releases new collections with a Helena option, my mind is made up on which style I'm going to be choosing from!
Rounding out the outfit is my aforementioned Kate Spade bag, Kate Spade black stud earrings, and ModCloth black wedges.
I hope everyone's weekend was good! I've been so mixed up on the days it's hard to believe it's Monday and it's the middle of August! I had a productive weekend after being sick for a while and got to see some friends as well. Plus I caught Wet Hot American Summer 10 Years later and really like it! I will be covering that on my culture blog, Blair Uncensored ASAP so follow me on social media below and click the above link to stay tuned! (UPDATE: It's live. Click HERE to read!) Happy Monday!
