Duck Hunting on Monster Tiki Island

Happy last day of August!  I will say that I wear a lot more black in the late summer!  I'm rocking a little bit of a tan (sorry, tanning and diet sodas are my--lame--but accurate vices) so I don't look so washed out wearing black!  Though this Monster Tiki Island skirt by The Oblong Box Shop has many maroon and brown undertones I wanted to pair it with black to keep it classic and classy.  How fun is this print?  Lagoon monsters, Nessie, mermaids and more!  I'm a huge fan of the prints of The Oblong Box Shop and designer Denialle Von Fitch but this one is easily one of my favorites-and it's perfect for summer!

Word on the street is that TOBS and DVF (she opened a new site that's still under construction) are going to start putting out skirts in a different fabric than their usual polyester starting sometime in the near future.  Everyone seems happy about this, but at this risk of swimming against the current and defending polyester (people tend to hate that fabric, right?) I'm skeptically open minded about this upcoming change.  I actually really love these skirts because THEY NEVER WRINKLE!  This fact made them unique in my closet and great standbys when other options were wrinkled and I didn't have time didn't want to iron.  I'm sure the new skirts will be great, but I'm not 100% on board just yet.

I realize the styling of this outfit is very similar to both of my other posts this week, ha.  HERE you can see me in a Pinup Girl Clothing skirt with an identical central accessory color (and the same shoes) and HERE you can see me in a different look but also in a midriff baring top.  Sorry if this week lacked some variety!  Oops!

As I mentioned in both posts this week, I love these black wedges from ModCloth.  They're comfortable and go with everything.  And I love crop tops in this summer!  This one is from Forever 21 ages ago but it has served me so well!  I wish I had one in every color because it's the perfect amount of coverage--for a crop top, that is.  I am in love with this Erstwilder duck necklace and I was pleased to find it matched my skirt well.  It kind of looks like it's flying over the border print of the skirt, which is a bonus detail.  Because I'm me, I went to a dark place (or a place in the 1980s playing videos games) and had to name this post "Duck Hunting on Monster Tiki Island" ha.

This is my last post on this blog for the week!  I'm going to try to eek out another post for Blair Uncensored before the weekend, but we'll see.  I feel like I have no time to do a million things over the next few days that all must get done.  Next week I'm going to be traveling!  I have one or two posts that will be going out for sure, and I'm working on a few more but I don't want to overpromise.  But definitely check back as there will be a few posts!  Additionally, please follow me on Instagram as I a) have gotten the hang of IG stories (finally) and b) will be taking fun photos on my trip and that will include IRL outfit pics!  Finally, if you haven't already please like my FB page!  I have a lot of pots on the stove that are going to be boiling over that I want to share with you (especially in regards to comedy work).  My FB page is the basically turning into my "in real time" website where I'm advertising my style blog work, my Blair Uncensored work, my comedy projects, and more coming out!  And I promise, I try to keep it all entertaining and not just "self promote-y", ha.  Thanks!

Have a great weekend and I'll be seeing your beautiful faces soon!
XOXO

Go CUBS!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Comedy and Tragedy

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.  I generally hate cliche quotes that can easily be slapped on memes or on the coffee mug of a basic b!tch, but I'm hard pressed to find a better phrase to describe my life currently.  In short: I've been having the most fun that I've ever had in the eight months since I moved to LA, but then the emergency breaks got slammed on my life when my mother fell gravely ill and passed away two weeks later on June 6th.
I'm currently back in LA, after being gone for three weeks.  I'm looking forward to continuing my comedy journey, as I feel it will save me from myself at this time.  But while I'm functioning okay as I'm still in a great deal of shock and my current mode is auto pilot, certain hours of the day prove to me that I'm very jumbled up and confused about my mom's passing.  I suddenly don't know what I'm in for and I don't know what I'm doing.
Not knowing what I'm doing …
