Welcome back to another Twinsie Tuesday! This week's central twin piece is the Tatyana Green Fanny Skirt (also found on ModCloth under the name, "B. Jones Style Midi Skirt in Pine") and my lovely twin is Lindsey, from Have Clothes, Will Travel. If you don't yet know her, Lindsey is one of the most unique bloggers out there! Her style is feminine, classic, and occasionally quirky but always totally her own (read: no cookie cutter outfits, yay!). And as you may be able to deduce from the name of her blog, she is also a travel blogger. What makes her different than other travel bloggers is that she LIVES in different cities and countries for months at a time. So Lindsey really gets the lay of any new land and blogs about her adventures in a new place. Hands down she's my favorite travel blogger because all travel tips, stories, and guides are 100% organic and it never feels like I'm being sold something.
What makes this collaboration special is that it's our FOURTH time collaborating! This is hands down a record for me! Two Julys ago we were both featured on each other's blog for guest posts (here and here) and last July she interviewed me and my comedy partner, Shannon, in a post featuring our comedy duo, Just Shair. Knowing we have at least two pieces in common, it was a no brainer to pick Lindsey to be a twin. And since we coincidentally seem to work together in July, my email subject title was "It's July...wanna collaborate again?" I guess we'll have to see the planets align again in July 2018? Regardless, here is our latest collaboration and I hope you enjoy this twin post!
What was your process for styling this outfit?
Lindsey: I had wanted to style this skirt with one of my newly acquired cropped cardigans for this occasion. (I'm currently the proud owner of three cropped cardigans, now!) I really thought it would complement this skirt well. Navy was the one color I had not yet tried with this skirt...so I went for it! And these wedges have been my go-to "fancy" shoes lately because they're so easy to walk in!
Lauren-Blair: I wore this outfit back in the fall but didn't get it photographed! So I was excited to have the chance to restyle it and immortalize it, ha. I'm very into yellow and mixing prints, and this just felt like a good combination!
How frequently do you wear this brand?
Lindsey: This is actually the only item I own from Tatyana Boutique. I have no idea why that is, as this skirt is amazing, and I would love to try out other items by this brand.
Lauren-Blair: Relatively often! I go through waves though. Some seasons I wear Tatyana frequently and other times of the year the brand gets a bit "lost" in my closet. I'd probably never part with any of my pieces though, because they're high quality staples!
How frequently do you wear this skirt?
Lindsey: It varies a bit now. When I was living in Tokyo and Sydney, I was wearing this skirt almost once a week (or every other week at least). It's so versatile and perfect for so many occasions! However, now that I'm in Rosario, this was actually the first time I had worn it in a few months. (Jeans have been my go-to lately, as the style is a bit more casual here.)
Lauren-Blair: It's definitely one of my most worn Tatyana pieces! Like the rest of the brand for me, I to tend to wear it in waves.
What made you want to buy this skirt?
Lindsey: Oh gosh, I've had this skirt for a few years now, and I honestly can't remember what exactly it was that sold me on it. However, I remember being on quite the ModCloth binge at that time (where I had ordered it from), and I was trying to broaden my style horizons. I believe this might have been the first midi skirt I ever bought!
Lauren-Blair: I'm drawing a (somewhat) blank. It's an oldie but a goodie! I remember seeing it a lot on ModCloth and on Instagram and eventually deciding I needed it, ha. But actually, I got this in the wrong size at first and it wasn't for another six months to a year that I was able to acquire it in the right size due to the right size not being in stock. So I guess there's two parts to my answer; I bought it once, returned it, and ultimately decided I still needed it and tried again!
Have you been able to style it in other ways than you have today? Why or why not?
Lindsey: Oh yes, I've been able to style it at least 6 different ways on my blog and have styled it even more for daily wear, and I have plans for several more! This skirt goes with so many different colors, and I wear it in every season.
Lauren-Blair: Yes! Right or wrong, I believe green goes with virtually everything and this skirt proves this theory. Yellow and purple have been my favorite color pairings with it (along with my Sonic Youth Goo shirt that my dog has since eaten...), and you can never go wrong with wearing black or stripes with this skirt! Weirdly, this skirt has never gotten a blog post solely dedicated to it as it's been more of an "Instagram Darling" for outfit photos not accompanying blog posts. However, it was in my Gaga for Tatyana Boutique post and it's red fraternal twin has had it's own post. (Bonus thought after receiving Lindsey's photos: I never would have thought to pair it with navy and now I love this idea!!)
Just For Lindsey: You live in a new country every few months! Having a limited wardrobe due to traveling, how does this make your personal daily style different than if you lived in one place for a long period of time?
Lindsey: It is so much more limited. My wardrobe would be HUGE if I stayed in one spot for too long. (So, it's a good thing we move around so much! Haha.) I end up repeating a lot of outfits for my daily wear as a result. I always try to make sure I style the outfits in new ways for my blog to keep things interesting, but in reality, there are quite a few repeats during the week! And having versatile items, such as this skirt, make up a big part of my current wardrobe!
