A Bernie Dexter Halter, a Beagle, and a Dino

Told ya my dogs were getting VERY into crashing my shoots!  Ha.  How was everyone's weekend?  Mine was good.  Underground Music Showcase (UMS) is a festival in my neighborhood that I go to roughly every other year, and this was a year I went.  (I wrote about my experiences at UMS 2015 HERE and HERE).  It was fun--mostly.  In the past they've had some great headliners and I used to know a lot more local acts.  Myself and everyone I trolled around with knew virtually nothing about any band playing.  This wasn't a bad thing, as exploring new music without an agenda is fun.  But it was different not having ANYTHING dictate the time tables.  The other pros and cons were that it was fun to bump into a bunch of people I haven't seen in forever (for the past two years I've been a bit more reclusive and less of a social butterfly, but am currently trying to remedy that a little) but the weather was really weird this weekend.  It was both hot and chilly, humid, rainy, stormy, and overcast.  Blah.  To sum up, here's a weird photo I took with a poll you can answer HERE.

ANYWAY, this Bernie Dexter dress is a dream!  I wish she would introduce new halters because they're my favorite style of hers!  (To my knowledge, Bernie Dexter has discontinued her halters for now or for forever.)  I wore this a few weeks back to a Just Shair rehearsal (we have new stuff coming and it's in a new direction...!) and you can see a silly photo that hints at what we're doing that HERE.  And then I went to one of my best friend's kids first birthday (proof of that HERE), and the dress was appropriate of the occasion.  That evening, (somewhat) unexpectedly I continued to wear this dress to see Blondie with Garbage!  I'm going to write about that on my new culture (etc) blog, Blair Uncensored in a few weeks.  I used to write about music more on this blog (HERE), but I've decided to move that to Blair Uncensored.  I published my first post on concert going experiences there last week all about seeing Everclear for the second time live.  If you're a fan, check it out HERE.

My point with talking about my busy day involving this dress is that the Bernie Dexter halters are super versatile!!  Comedy, a baby's birthday, and rock and roll!  Further proof of this theory: I bumped into another Bernie Dexter loving lady at Blondie/Garbage, my friend, Brittnee!  Sometimes mid-century fashion can feel costume-y, but more often than not it really isn't!  Especially with laid back summer stylings, you can be comfortable and stylish/bold with limited effort.  Obviously that's what I went for here!  Matching the pinks in the dress with $2.50 Old Navy flip flops and my beloved Kate Spade T-Rex cross body was all the styling this dress needed!  Less is totally more!
I hope everyone had a good weekend and I hope nobody is too bummed that tomorrow is the first day of August!  I didn't think this summer was flying by, but apparently it is!!! Have a great Monday!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Comedy and Tragedy

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.  I generally hate cliche quotes that can easily be slapped on memes or on the coffee mug of a basic b!tch, but I'm hard pressed to find a better phrase to describe my life currently.  In short: I've been having the most fun that I've ever had in the eight months since I moved to LA, but then the emergency breaks got slammed on my life when my mother fell gravely ill and passed away two weeks later on June 6th.
I'm currently back in LA, after being gone for three weeks.  I'm looking forward to continuing my comedy journey, as I feel it will save me from myself at this time.  But while I'm functioning okay as I'm still in a great deal of shock and my current mode is auto pilot, certain hours of the day prove to me that I'm very jumbled up and confused about my mom's passing.  I suddenly don't know what I'm in for and I don't know what I'm doing.
Not knowing what I'm doing …

Ocean Front Members Only

Is this a style post only I could bring you or what?  Not only did I mix prints (three times, as the Forever 21 shirt is gingham, the ModCloth briefcase is dinosaur printed, and my true vintage skirt is an ocean front border print!) but I'm mixing vintage with modern fashion.  It seems that many vintage-y bloggers tend to stray from any trends, which is silly to me because these bomber jackets are SO comfortable and practical for between seasons weather (and frankly, Members Only IS a vintage brand)!  I tied this whole look together with using the Members Only Satin Washed Boyfriend Jacket in burgundy with these platform heels from Amazon by Dadawen.  I feel the burgundy bookends bounce off the greens and blues nicely.

How's everyone's week been?  Thanks for allowing me to take a week off!  Not only did I have obligations at the Comedy Central Stage and the Upright Citizen's Brigade stage this week, but I was hosting one of my very best friends who came to visit me!  …
