Members (of The Brady Bunch) Only

All About the Outfit: Welcome to Tuesday!  How's your week going so far?  This is my other jacket I received in my Members Only collaboration and boy do I love it!  (Click HERE to see the first one!)  Green is one of my all-time favorite colors so basically this jacket will go with basically everything that I own.  AND I'm a firm believer that green matches everything too, so that'll help as well, ha!

I'm super impressed with the quality of this jacket.  I feel like Members Only across the board has exceptional quality, but this jacket above and beyond impresses me!  It's a super silky satin on the outside and the interior lining is also an equally super silky satin, so basically this jacket feels like a silky satin hug!  It's also a thin jacket that is warm and has an unexpected thickness to it (if that makes sense), meaning it feels very durable.  I also like that it's a little longer than waist length, and though in theory I could have gotten away with an XS size over the size small I'm wearing but I like it ever-so-slightly oversized like this.  I even zipped it up (below) to better show off where it lands and I'm really digging this length jacket with a dress cut like this!

Style Details: Though I have a MILLION outfit ideas that include this jacket, I absolutely wanted to first debut it with my Brady Bunch house dress from Retrolicious.  It has so many greens in it that I knew that it would be a match and have been jonesing to wear it with my Nine West  boots I got earlier in the winter.  And though I've worn the dress a lot in "blogger off duty" moments through the summer and fall, this dress hasn't graced my blog since this post last summer (HERE).

I'm not going to lie: I've had a miserable day.  (I take photos ahead of time for this exact reason.)  If you're a long time follower of the blog or my Instagram/Twitter, you will probably recall that I chronically have allergy issues specifically involving sinus pressure/headaches.  The past 24 hours I've felt worse than usual and thought I could have a sinus infection.  I'm between primary care doctors so I went to a local Urgent Care and had possibly the worst medical experience ever, barring from my unsuccessful heart procedure.  The guy was a quack and told me I was helpless, but not after he tried to get me to take some over the counter drug that was bad for my heart condition (he didn't even look at my chart, which clearly stated I have a form of tachycardia).  I went to the drug store across the street to corroborate a few things that went wrong in the doctor's office on my behalf (for my sanity) and they informed me I should have been prescribed something as there are options as opposed to being told there was nothing to be done (duh). And there's more to this story but I don't feel like boring y'all with the nitty gritty details.  I'm trying to file a complaint with the office but the whole office seems poorly managed.  I'm going to be contacting the state medical board and my pseudo-stepdad of 14 years (mom doesn't want to get remarried) is a retired doctor who knows people in high places, so phew.  But for now I am miserable and still feel like something is wrong but I wasn't heard and therefore still feel totally sick.  Depending on how quickly this passes and/or how fast I find a new primary care ASAP to get actual treatment, I may or may not be on the blog the next day or so.  But I'm going to try!  Have a great week if I miss you!

  1. Sorry to hear about your allergy, dear Lauren :( When it comes to the outfit, I love your khaki jacket, it looks amazing with combo with your terrific hair :)

    Have a lovely afternoon dear,

  2. I love the versatility of this jacket! Great choice pairing it with the Brady Bunch dress too. Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear about your doctors experience and that you have a bad sinus infection. Those are horrible to deal with. I hope everything works out and that you can find out why that doctor was being such an ass.

  3. The jacket sounds heavenly! I love the dress you paired it with and the greens that you've paired with that dress :) I hope you feel better soon!

  4. Oh my word, that was really awful! That the guy didn't even read your chart to know about any other problems (and tachycardia, not like "she is shortsighted", he should have taken a good look at that! I am sorry that they have a poor management, you definitely have to complain about it, it was serious! And your "stepdad" can help, I think, hopefully you can complain to the right person. And that you feel better soon! On a fashion note, I love green and loved your jacket and dress! And the boots are amaaaazing! You look really stunning! Hope you have a better day today!

  5. Oh my god! And here I thought my Google doctor experience was bad...I am so sorry to hear that happened to you. I hope you can get your complaint filed and you feel better soon! And your jacket is darling! Love that you got to collab with Members Only. :)

Hope you have a lovely weekend, Lauren! Feel better!

  6. This is so pretty, I love the print of it!

  7. I hope you feel better soon dear. You look amazing here in this cute dress and boots. Hopefully, things will be sorted out soon!

  8. Love your smile in these pictures!! <3

  9. What a great post and outfit! Thanks for sharing

  10. Oh no I hope that you get a more helpful doctor next time and some relief from your symptoms! It's not good you were fobbed off like that. Especially when you're unwell you're unlikely to try challenge those who are supposed to be acting in your best interests anyway.

I hope that you are feeling better now.

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Comedy and Tragedy

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.  I generally hate cliche quotes that can easily be slapped on memes or on the coffee mug of a basic b!tch, but I'm hard pressed to find a better phrase to describe my life currently.  In short: I've been having the most fun that I've ever had in the eight months since I moved to LA, but then the emergency breaks got slammed on my life when my mother fell gravely ill and passed away two weeks later on June 6th.
I'm currently back in LA, after being gone for three weeks.  I'm looking forward to continuing my comedy journey, as I feel it will save me from myself at this time.  But while I'm functioning okay as I'm still in a great deal of shock and my current mode is auto pilot, certain hours of the day prove to me that I'm very jumbled up and confused about my mom's passing.  I suddenly don't know what I'm in for and I don't know what I'm doing.
Not knowing what I'm doing …
