Wig Out Dress by Retrolicious from Lovely in Lilac

Happy Wednesday!  I'm intending to do a 5x (Monday-Friday) a week posting in 2017, now that things are settling down in my world!  I took yesterday off because I wanted to enjoy the last day of my friend being in town and then relax a bit after she left.  Thanks for understanding!!

All About the Outfit:  It is WELL established that Retrolicious/Folter is one of my favorite dress brands.  And it breaks my cold black heart when it appears that I've missed out on a print that is no longer being reproduced.  The good news is that this dress has been popping up again after appearing to discontinued (shop HERE and HERE).  The bad-but-technically-good news is that back when I did my collaboration with Lovely in Lilac I was able to snag this dress in my size when it was just about sold out on their site.  My point is that I don't understand Google Shopping.  I try to enter dress/brands with the correct names of items of what I'm looking for and nothing pops up.  And then other times I find it weirdly on a site I randomly came across, or it's still in stock in a place like Lovely in Lilac.  My point is is that if you love this brand, always check Lovely in Lilac because they do have some oldies but goodies in stock.    I was UBER impressed when I first perused their site, and it felt like finding an oasis in the desert.  There's a growing number of small boutiques that carry awesome brands, but so far I've found Lovely in Lilac to have the best selection!  And I'll keep you abreast of other sites that are newer but for some reason don't pop up in search engines for some reason, because searching for potentially discontinued goodies can be so frustrating!!

Style Details:  I'm the worst at winterizing clothes, but if I may say so myself, I think I did okay this time!  I wanted to mix prints and textures (mixing textures feels so wintery for some reason), but keep the color theme central and consistent.

Blazer- Express
Earrings- Luxulite via Pinup Girl Clothing

Tights- ModCloth
Shoes- Nine West via Poshmark
Hope everyone is having a great day!  I can't believe it was a year ago that I woke up to the news of David Bowie's passing.  I even randomly referenced his influence on me in a post the night he died, but before I knew of his passing.  2016 felt like it flew by, at least for me, but now that I look back it feels correct that a whole year has passed.  What celebrity death devastated you the most from 2016?  Mine was definitely Bowie by a landslide, though Prince's death gutted me a bit too and ever the Brady Bunch fan Florence Henderson's death really shocked me.  Despite ending this post on a death chat...I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of their day and week, ha!  XO

  1. Wow! Posting 5 times a week is quite the feat. Good luck with it :D I love this look! The mix of prints and textures is so fun :) As far as celeb deaths of 2016, Alan Rickman and Carrie Fisher hit me the most :( May they all R.I.P.

  2. Wow! 5 times a week! That's awesome! I'm looking forward to reading even more of your posts. :) And so glad you had a great time with your friend! This is such a fabulous winter look! I adore the tights you paired with your dress. I don't own many Retrolicious items but it's good to know Lovely in Lilac has such a good selection!

  3. I have starting loving print mixing, although sometimes I feel silly!
But this look is fabulous---especially with those tights!
I saw this on IG, and had to come check it out!!

  4. Oh, this dress! The print is amazing! I am in love with it and the skull tights and shoes! You look amazing, as usual, but I really loved this outfit with the blazer! Retrolicious is great! I know what you mean, a year ago David Bowie passed away, on my dad’s birthday, so, totally unforgettable… I really love Bowie and other deaths that shocked me were Alan Rickman’s and Carrie Fisher-Debbie Reynolds. But Prince’s also, since I loved him too sad I am getting to be a bit numb sad Like, yes, this is the cycle of life, but so sad sad Hope you have a nice day and later, weekend!

  5. Unique as always. Love it..

  6. What a gorgeous and unique outfit! Love the dress and those tights!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Comedy and Tragedy

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.  I generally hate cliche quotes that can easily be slapped on memes or on the coffee mug of a basic b!tch, but I'm hard pressed to find a better phrase to describe my life currently.  In short: I've been having the most fun that I've ever had in the eight months since I moved to LA, but then the emergency breaks got slammed on my life when my mother fell gravely ill and passed away two weeks later on June 6th.
I'm currently back in LA, after being gone for three weeks.  I'm looking forward to continuing my comedy journey, as I feel it will save me from myself at this time.  But while I'm functioning okay as I'm still in a great deal of shock and my current mode is auto pilot, certain hours of the day prove to me that I'm very jumbled up and confused about my mom's passing.  I suddenly don't know what I'm in for and I don't know what I'm doing.
Not knowing what I'm doing …
