Neverland Jenny DRESS from Pinup Girl Clothing

Happy Monday, all!  How was your weekend?  Mine was delightful--and somewhat is still happening--as I have a friend visiting from my home town of New Hope, PA!  It's always so fun to show people my adoptive home of Denver, and my friend is silly, fun, and sweet so it's been great hanging with her the past few days!

ANYWAY, over some sale on sale recently over at Pinup Girl Clothing I finally bite the bullet and bought the Neverland print in the Jenny dress.  As you may remember, in 2015 I reviewed the Jenny skirts that PUG has to offer and it was mostly a rave.  That said, occasionally their sizing is off and while I'm pleased to update that PUG now has individualized sizing charts per item because these decrepensies appeared, I got a few items from back in the day from before this practice.  Perhaps infamously was my Jenny skirt in this print, as it was noticeably too large (photo below).  I was in love with the print so I held onto it, but as I realized this dress was on sale (and I'm assuming was reduced to clear) plus there was an additional 30% all sale items, I bought the dress.  I own a few PUG dresses but none in the Jenny fit and I've been curious for some time.  (FYI: I'm selling my skirt in this print soon, but after I'm a bit more settled into my new place, so head's up!)

So what are my thoughts on the Jenny dress?  I do love the fit, and how there are adjustable straps.  The waist is less expendable than I imagined so I do feel it's a little tight.  Despite this, it's a WAY better fit than the skirt was.  I'm wearing an XS for measure and think a small would be too big.  I imagine it'll expand a little in the waist and if not organically, I've been learning about a steaming trick to loosen the fit of some clothes so I'll try that (and I will report back on how this tactic  works or not too!).

Honestly, I'm feeling a little Goldilocks-adjacent here with PUG.  I mean, again, I do like this fit a helluva a lot better and therefore will wear it more.  But I think there's reasons why I don't wear PUG as much as I used to and I address some of those reasons in the first half of the countdown I did on my most worn vintage brands.  The fit thing is annoying because they are no longer consistent (despite new size charts this can be frustrating for a myriad of reasons), so in conjunction with my other reasons I'm very curious to see if this brand makes a comeback for me or fades further into the background for me in 2017.  I love PUG, but I've been fighting for that love more than I usually would with a brand I allegedly adore.  Does that make sense?  Anyone else in the same boat??

Style Details:  As I've been mentioning, I am all moved into my new place.  To say I'm all unpacked would be the most adorable statement on planet Earth!  I genuinely thought I unpacked both my green cardigan and/or my teal heels, thinking I would make a Sophie's Choice style decision between styling this with one or the other color scheme.  Instead I had the teal cardigan and green heels, so I did a combo a la half pepperoni and half cheese, vanilla and chocolate ice cream duo cups, and an order of fries that's part regular and part sweet potato!  I think this style duo worked out, maybe better than what I was originally planning with choosing a singular color!  I also used this as an excuse to break out my favorite hunted itf 2016, this mix tape cross body from Kate Spade!  Love is a Mixed Tape by Rob Sheffield is my favorite book, so by extension I do like me a mix tape novelty print and/or item!

I hope everyone has a great start to their week!  I'm currently listening to the snow melt through the gutters and such like something fierce because it's already 50 degrees out despite being mid-morning as I type this and will get up to 60 later in the day!  Honestly...this isn't a bad start to a Monday, ha!  XO

  2. Oh, love this outfit on you! I love all the shades of blue and green you accessorized with.
NJ seems to be similar to Denver, with how up and down the temps are. It's freezing here now (was 7 degrees when I left for work), but is going to be 58 on Thursday! Can't wait for that.

  3. Happy Monday Lauren, although the wind was crazy last night/this early morning, huh?
I really love how you paired the mint and green with this dress. I would definitely been more boring and gone with a neutral, but I love this! It's great when I can learn to stretch and try other color combinations!

  5. Oh yes, fitting can be a problem and if PUG is not consistent in this area anymore... you know, it's good when we know a brand and know that we can order it and that it will be exactly what we expect. But glad that you got this Jenny dress and that it is OK, not like the skirt, though a bit tight this time :) I liked the color and the print :) Sea, skulls, etc all well matched :) I liked this Pinup girl clothing dress! And the cardigan (and color) and the purse, soooooo nice! So nice is, too, to have your friend visiting you! Hope you have a very nice day, dear Lauren Blair!

  6. Love this bright + happy outfit, lady!

KC is very similar right now- we had snow last week + freezing temps this weekend, and this morning we woke up and it was 50 degrees and there are thunderstorms in the area! Yikes!

  7. I've only ever got a PUG skirt. But I agree that their sizing is a bit different from other brands.
Anyway, you look amazing in this dress. I especially love it with that cardi. Such a springlike outfit. Love!
Hope you're having a great week.
    Much love,

  9. I adore this color combo on you! It's just darling! What a cute purse too. I have yet to invest in anything PUG, but it's good to know their sizing is wonky.

Go CUBS!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Comedy and Tragedy

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.  I generally hate cliche quotes that can easily be slapped on memes or on the coffee mug of a basic b!tch, but I'm hard pressed to find a better phrase to describe my life currently.  In short: I've been having the most fun that I've ever had in the eight months since I moved to LA, but then the emergency breaks got slammed on my life when my mother fell gravely ill and passed away two weeks later on June 6th.
I'm currently back in LA, after being gone for three weeks.  I'm looking forward to continuing my comedy journey, as I feel it will save me from myself at this time.  But while I'm functioning okay as I'm still in a great deal of shock and my current mode is auto pilot, certain hours of the day prove to me that I'm very jumbled up and confused about my mom's passing.  I suddenly don't know what I'm in for and I don't know what I'm doing.
Not knowing what I'm doing …

Ocean Front Members Only

Is this a style post only I could bring you or what?  Not only did I mix prints (three times, as the Forever 21 shirt is gingham, the ModCloth briefcase is dinosaur printed, and my true vintage skirt is an ocean front border print!) but I'm mixing vintage with modern fashion.  It seems that many vintage-y bloggers tend to stray from any trends, which is silly to me because these bomber jackets are SO comfortable and practical for between seasons weather (and frankly, Members Only IS a vintage brand)!  I tied this whole look together with using the Members Only Satin Washed Boyfriend Jacket in burgundy with these platform heels from Amazon by Dadawen.  I feel the burgundy bookends bounce off the greens and blues nicely.

How's everyone's week been?  Thanks for allowing me to take a week off!  Not only did I have obligations at the Comedy Central Stage and the Upright Citizen's Brigade stage this week, but I was hosting one of my very best friends who came to visit me!  …
