Lions, GIRAFFES, and Bears...Oh My!

All About the Outfit:  Greetings!  This is a rare post for me as I don't usually do a second blog post on the same piece within two months apart!  I wore this skirt to watch the Cubs WIN THE WORLD SERIES(!!!!!!!) because the skirt has bears all over it and cubs are baby bears, so duh.  Ha.  I briefly wrote about that HERE and below is a photo from roughly 5 minutes after that nail baiting, rain ruining, extra 'inning-ing' game that the Cubs finally won in victory (my mom is from Chicago so while the Cubs aren't my #1 team, they're a top 3 team and I'm a diehard baseball fan so this night ruled):

ANYWAY, I didn't get to speak too much on this skirt in that post, so it felt worth going over for real sooner than later.  Retrolicious has been upping their skirt game lately!  For the four or so years that I've been a fan of the brand, they had mostly dresses and maybe would release a skirt or two per year.  ModCloth seemed to have a deal with them as through ModCloth several Retrolicious/Folter skirts were released that could not be found elsewhere.  Lately more and more skirts are popping up on the brand's home sites, eBay stores, and one of my recent new favorite shops, Lovely in Lilac (read about them HERE and HERE).  I wrote about sister brand Folter's Zombie skirt back in October, and while it was a tough post for me because I had to address my shrunken frame and corresponding health, the sizing info is the same for this skirt as they are the same exact style.  And I'm happy to report that these skirts fit me better in XS thanks to shrinking in a washing machine + being a bit healthier than I was.

Style Details:  This is a case of mixing prints without super mixing themes.  I have outdoor animals you'd see on a safari on my shirt and outdoor animals you'd see in the woods on my skirt.  The browns in the shirt play with the browns on the skirt, which is how I can get away with mixing prints here.

Unfortunately this outfit is mostly sold out.  The skirt is from ModCloth, but there's only a few left.  (Anyone else feel like ModCloth is putting things on sale without restocking items a lot quicker than they used to??)  Because I love you, I did a search looking for other places this skirt is sold and sadly came up short, other than on Amazon (in only a few sizes).  Sometimes Retrolicious and Folter put up items long after they arrived at online boutiques and I recently saw Unique Vintage just start selling a dress from Folter that's been out for years, so just because it's disappearing for now doesn't mean it'll be gone forever!

The rest of the outfit is older, with this shirt from Banana Republic being from over two years ago and these Nine West Mary Jane pumps being from about that time as well.  But hopefully it'll provide some style inspiration even if you can't easily find these other pieces (though you never know with eBay and Poshmark!).
I hope everyone is having a great week!  It's both flying by and hard to believe it's only Wednesday at once for me!  I think my internal clock is all around confused, ha!  Do you guys like to mix prints?  Any secrets for finding tracked down items that have since sold out that I missed?  Have a lovely Wednesday!

  7. This is such a fun combination! Love that you wore that skirt for the Cubs game too (must be good luck)! And I completely agree with what seems like ModCloth is running a ton of awesome sales lately - but that means they are constantly sold out of sizes and not keeping up with restocking. It's a bit of a bummer when I feature their stuff on my blog. (But better for my bank account, haha.)
