Gaga for...Lindy Bop (Review)

Hey, all!  Despite having been in the vintage game for some time now I actually have not tried all vintage inspired brands!  One brand that is quite popular that I had yet to try (until now) was Lindy Bop!  Lately their novelty print game has been crazy awesome, like so many other vintage companies this year!  You know fun prints are impossible for me to ignore so naturally I made my way to their site and made a few purchases!  I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with this brand!  Let's break it down!  (And to read more reviews about brands I'm 'gaga for' CLICK HERE!)

Why Did I Never Shop at Lindy Bop Before?  Considering Lindy Bop is a huge staple brand for retro enthusiasts, it's a fair question that I should address.  There really wasn't a good or bad reason per se.  I came across the brand several times, but the stuff I liked from them were either too similar to stuff that I already owned, out of print in my size, had a print I liked but were different style wise (the dress shape, cut, etc) than what I go for, or I didn't have the money/stuff was too expensive.  I'm also somewhat a creature of habit, so once I fell in love with other brands and knew what worked for me I got less tempted to try out new brands.

My Purchases:

I utterly love this print!  It's part 60s peace and rainbows and all that hippie stuff, but with space ships landing hoping to invade planet Earth.  I have a lot of fun printed skirts, but this one may have the best sense of humor yet!  I love the color purple but somehow don't own a ton of clothing items in purple, so I was happy to add this to my collection.  Plus the color scheme is so fun and unique!

The fit is perfect, in my opinion!  For measure I have a US XS/UK 8.  This was the skirt I was most nervous about because pencil skirts are a trickier fit to buy online than a circle skirt, because the former has to fit correctly in multiple parts where a circle skirt more or less only needs to pass the fit test around the waist.  This is a slightly relaxed fit, which is exactly what I was hoping for.  Not too tight or gratuitous but also not too baggy.  I braved the cold and took off my Members Only jacket to better show you how this fits:
Unlike the Invasion pencil skirt, I wasn't super worried about the fit here (and the XS does fit me quite well, so yay!).  But pleats kind of work with or against me so I tend to shy away from pleats.  When I first tried this bad boy on, there was a moment of hesitation because pleats are so scary to me!  But then I wore it around a bit and at the risk of sounding like Cher from Clueless who only trusted polaroids over mirrors, I'm very pleased with how this skirt photographed.  Like the Invasion skirt, this is a color scheme that I don't believe I have in my closet.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly:

The Good: This brand seems to run true to size and is made of quality fabrics!  I've been linking all the links to Lindy Bop's US store, but technically they're a UK brand with a sister UK site.  I'm still so new so I don't know if they're entirely different in regards to things being restocked or not, or if you can shop at either regardless of where you live, and I apologize for my ignorance here.  (Please sound off in the comments if you know better than I do!)  And shipping is only $7, which given they're an international brand that's kind of awesome (no shipping charge if you spend over $125).

The Bad: I honestly can't think of anything bad offhand!

The Ugly: There isn't anything ugly.  That said, I'll use this moment to express a confusion.  I was shocked at how cheap Lindy Bop was on their site.  When I had been tempted by them before, I had come across them on Amazon or other vintage sites (that I won't name) that carry multiple brands, including Lindy Bop.  On those sites LB always seemed so expensive.  Now that I've been familiarizing myself with the brand I went back and double checked, and it does appear some sites rack up the price tag a bit.  So, maybe shop at Lindy Bop's actual site in the meantime?  (Again, please sound off in the comments if you know more about this!)

Bottom Line:  I like this brand and am already trying to decide what I want next from them (their prints are so seriously awesome lately).  I'd recommend this brand to anyone, but I'd almost recommend this brand more to someone who is just starting to dress in a more classic/retro style.  The reason being is that the price tag is more affordable and if prints or other loud styles aren't your jam, there's a lot of basic pieces too for starting a vintage wardrobe (like polka dots and stripes, etc).

Style Details:

I mixed prints for both outfits because they both seemed to be begging for me to do that and I had so much fun with doing that!

PS: I'm very excited about this Member's Only jacket!  I don't know if I'll do a full post for it or not, but while shopping for my new place I made myself only buy house wear stuff, but proudly only broke that rule once in a Marshall's when en route to the checkout line I spotted a lavender Member's Only jacket in my size for only $20.  And I've been bragging on social media about it ever since, ha:

So what are your thoughts on Lindy Bop?  Have you shopped there before?  If so, what are your experiences?  I'm definitely curious because I'm still so new to the brand that I'd love to learn about anything I've missed!  Are there also any brands that you feel like you should have tried already but for some reason have not?  Sound off in the comments!  (And again, for more reviews like this, CLICK HERE!)

This is my last post for this week but will be back in action next week and nearly have a full week's worth of content for you already!  OMG, I love having a balcony that I can just walk onto to take photos.  As I mentioned in yesterday's post I will reassess when my life calms down + it isn't so freezing out in regards to taking photos elsewhere again, but for now this will be best for me to get my posting consistent again!  Have a great weekend and I'll see ya next week!

  3. Love both looks

  4. Very fun!!
I've never shopped there before either---it's fun to find out about different retailers through blogging!!

  5. Such cute skirts, girlie, I especially love the first one! Well, I think it's awesome that you were able to discover that they're actually more affordable. I've had similar experiences with shops selling brands for way more than the brands themselves sell for, which to me defeats the whole purpose of those shops, aren't they supposed to be discounted!? Anyway, thanks so much for sharing and I hope you have a great weekend ahead!1

  6. That is really interesting that buying from the actual site is much cheaper and other sites jacked up the prices a bit. Good on you for finding out and I really love both outfits on you, Lauren!

  7. Yes Lindybop have been releasing some awesome prints at the moment, there's a couple of dresses I'm currently eyeing of for myself! I love the skirts you chose for yourself and I'm glad you finally ordered some Lindybop goodies for yourself Lauren! :)

  8. Like you, I hadn't tried Lindy Bop for no real reason other than sizing didn't workout and I became complacent with brands I knew and liked. But jeez, I need to give them a try! Their prints are incredible, and I like the prices a lot!

  9. Love both these looks on you! <3 Totally killing it! I recently bought a novelty border print dress from Lindy Bop and was very impressed with the quality for the price! It's been my experience that you never know what you are going to get from them in terms of quality or fit (which is something I hear a lot from other people as well) but hopefully they will start to work that out. I'm with you, totally loving their novelty prints lately!

  10. I've never heard of them before, but that mini skirt is GORGEOUS!

  11. You are such a doll! I love these outfits... those skirt prints are SO much fun!!
I am sad that the pink striped tee you're wearing is sold out... it's cute!

  12. Love both looks so much, great review :) xx

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

I'm rocking the Frankie Purple and Plum and seriously loving it.  I love how big the face is and it compliments my hair and many of my frequent signature colors that I wear.  The watches are made from wood so they're very durable and sturdy.  I thought the watches w…

Comedy and Tragedy

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.  I generally hate cliche quotes that can easily be slapped on memes or on the coffee mug of a basic b!tch, but I'm hard pressed to find a better phrase to describe my life currently.  In short: I've been having the most fun that I've ever had in the eight months since I moved to LA, but then the emergency breaks got slammed on my life when my mother fell gravely ill and passed away two weeks later on June 6th.
I'm currently back in LA, after being gone for three weeks.  I'm looking forward to continuing my comedy journey, as I feel it will save me from myself at this time.  But while I'm functioning okay as I'm still in a great deal of shock and my current mode is auto pilot, certain hours of the day prove to me that I'm very jumbled up and confused about my mom's passing.  I suddenly don't know what I'm in for and I don't know what I'm doing.
Not knowing what I'm doing …
