Gaga for...ModCloth's Miami Moments Tops

The past year I've been more turned onto shirts, after being a dress and skirt girl almost exclusively.  Being such a skirt queen, obviously I own shirts to go with them (otherwise that'd be scandalous).  But they were more of the basic variety: tanks from Forever 21 and Old Navy, some button downs with fun patterns from J Crew, and about a zillion concert tees.  Lately I've been trying to invest in blouses--a decidedly new word in my wardrobe vocabulary-- and one of the kinds I've gotten hooked on is the ModCloth names South Florida Spree Tops Miami Moments Tops (ModCloth literally just changed the name of this item last week.)

I enjoy finding brands and styles that I like, so I can go back to them and know they're going to work and I have found that with these Miami Moments Tops. The brand is technically Poema, but upon investing the brand's site, they don't appear to see this style on their online store.  The gist is that they are sleeveless blouses with tame to fun prints that are baggier, but upon tying up the front and tucking in the shirt, they fit perfectly.  I wore the Sassy Girl print before recently in this post and more of these will be coming down the pipe because I'm addicted!

The Good:
They are silky to touch, adjustable by using the tie, and they tend to have really fun patterns.  I also find the quality to be pretty good!

The Bad:
As I mentioned above, they don't seem to sold anywhere but ModCloth.  That would be fine, but I've next to never seen them pop up on eBay from either other vendors or girls selling their clothing that they don't use enough...OR in swap/sell groups.  Maybe that would be fine, but these shirts sometimes sell out rather fast on ModCloth!  These shirts occasionally get restocked, but that doesn't happen too frequently.  So if you want one, get it!

The Ugly:
It's not "ugly" but as a chronic sale shopper, purchasing these shirts are stressful for me!  Are they going to sell out?  Will they eventually go on sale?  It's hard to know when to pull the trigger with buying one of these, and once they're gone they seem to be gone forever, so it's not a fun game to play with oneself!  And if it's not in the budget at the time, it's heartbreaking to watch a print you want slip away.

That wraps up another Gaga!  I haven't written one in a while, but have some more in the works.  I'm doing a follow up to the Modcloth post I did nearly two years ago and have my forever delayed part II of my Gaga for Pinup Girl Clothing coming down the tracks sooner than later too.  Hopefully by the next Gaga for... I'll have a page on my blog dedicated to these so they're easy to peruse for those searching/curious/skeptical about brands and styles!  Have a great Wednesday, folks!

  1. All of these looks are Beuatiful!! My fav has to be the 2nd one, with that cute yellow floral print!

    Adi xx

  2. You mix prints and patterns so wonderfully. Very nice post!

  3. I have to ask you this, many skirts do you have in total because it seems endless!

  4. Yes! This post is just what I needed! I wear skirts and dresses most of the time...but my shirts are usually of the plain variety. I really need some blouses! These look perfect! I will definitely be checking out these out on ModCloth!

  5. Blouses are my favorite shirt to wear! Haha, you know, I was like oh, these look like the south florida top I have saved on my modcloth wishlist from forever ago!! I haven't been on Modcloth since they randomly changed the name. Good to know though lol. They really are a great summer blouse. Even when it gets cooler out, put a cardi on and you're good to go!

  6. They are lovely shirts! Shame they are hard to find though, especially if they work so well for you. They look great with your skirts.

  8. I am obsessed with the poodle one

  9. Great dresses...all of them...xo, Neha

  10. All of photos are fantastic, and i love your fashion wear

  11. The tops/shirts are really sweet and they seem to be really good as well, through your review! I loved all of them, but as I like black and white together, very much, my favorite is the chevron one :) You are so right, it's so bad to see something we like sold out - print or shoes, whatever :( Hope you get many more shirts!

  12. This is a great top on you! I can see why you love them! I love tops with neckties. I can totally relate to your stress over this top. Modcloth can be so hard to gauge! And even though they often will announce when something is low stock you might still miss it because it takes them so long to process orders. I have missed many a things that way :( Anyhow, I'm really loving your gaga for post! I'm really looking forward to seeing more of these! <3

  13. These tops are super cute- love that they're sleeveless; great for summer!

  14. I like Mod Cloth. They have cute stuff. It's a shame they don't carry that particular blouse elsewhere...

I adore how you mix prints with your tops and skirts. Very stylish and creative!!

  15. These blouses are lovely, Lauren, you know how much I love a fun print! I've never shopped with ModCloth before, but what I've noticed, based on experience with pieces I had been eyeing that sold out, is that you're right, when they're gone, they're gone! They don't seem to restock, so when you see something you love, you have to get it then and there because items do tend to sell out quickly on this site! I'm glad you've found a label that ticks off everything on your list, very rare! I hope you're having the best week so far and thanks so much for sharing!

  16. The prints on the tops look really nice and the fit looks like it goes with a lot of your skirts.

  17. Fabulous blouses one and all. I especially like the zigzag one paired with that darling poodle print skirt. Such a great blend of glam and cute at work there.

Have a marvelous weekend, lovely lady!

  18. You look so awesome in that blouse. It's a lovely one, and I have considered buying it many times (never have though...)
    Much love,

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Ocean Front Members Only

Is this a style post only I could bring you or what?  Not only did I mix prints (three times, as the Forever 21 shirt is gingham, the ModCloth briefcase is dinosaur printed, and my true vintage skirt is an ocean front border print!) but I'm mixing vintage with modern fashion.  It seems that many vintage-y bloggers tend to stray from any trends, which is silly to me because these bomber jackets are SO comfortable and practical for between seasons weather (and frankly, Members Only IS a vintage brand)!  I tied this whole look together with using the Members Only Satin Washed Boyfriend Jacket in burgundy with these platform heels from Amazon by Dadawen.  I feel the burgundy bookends bounce off the greens and blues nicely.

How's everyone's week been?  Thanks for allowing me to take a week off!  Not only did I have obligations at the Comedy Central Stage and the Upright Citizen's Brigade stage this week, but I was hosting one of my very best friends who came to visit me!  …
