Tiny Dancer

About the outfit:

I go through phases with shopping.  Some months I lean towards vintage reproduction.  Other months I hunt down Kate Spade bags on eBay.  But my fever spikes the highest when I'm either on a roll with amazing true vintage novelty print skirts, OR I find some out of the blue.  This was a skirt I treated myself to a few months back because it's SO lovely and I hadn't found good true vintage in months prior to this purchase.  Can you blame me?

This purchase dates back to November now and is from Nicole Elaine Vintage (as well as this Miami print skirt).  I've said it before and I'll say it again: late fall and winter purchases kill me because it can take forever to wear those items and/or photography them.  But now that it's spring I'm finally at an advantage point!  This skirt is too lovely for words.  The details of the dancers are awesome and I believe every color ever could probably be paired with this baby.  #versatile

Music time!

"Tiny Dancer" by Elton John is one of my favorite songs of all time.  I think it's utterly beautiful and is the type of song that will never be dated as it's just a good song.  Obviously I had to name this blog post after that song.  Need I say more?
I've recently added two pages to this blog, one that catalogues posts named after songs and another that catalogues all of the concert stories.  Click the links on to see for yourself!  Happy Friday!

  9. Babe, you are the Queen of vintage! You wear it so well and this look is yet another perfectly styled pairing! That skirt was such a great find and so worth the wait, although I do know what you mean, I too get super anxious about something I've purchased during another season. I also love your heels, they are the perfect mint color! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a great week so far!

  14. That skirt is a think of absolute beauty and dreamy sweetness. It reminds me (massively) of some charming ballet painting prints that my maternal grandparents had in their house (flanking the doorway of the wee house's only bathroom) when I was growing up. Plus, may I add, pastels are sensational on you!

    Big hugs,

  20. Lauren, your outfits never stop to amaze me!:) Seriously, you look amazing in these novelty print skirts and you style them perfectly. Btw, I feel the same about late winter shopping. Spring and summer collections are in stores since February, but we just started hitting above zero temperatures here in Montreal, lol. Anyway, thanks so much for sharing and have a great weekend!

Go CUBS!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Comedy and Tragedy

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.  I generally hate cliche quotes that can easily be slapped on memes or on the coffee mug of a basic b!tch, but I'm hard pressed to find a better phrase to describe my life currently.  In short: I've been having the most fun that I've ever had in the eight months since I moved to LA, but then the emergency breaks got slammed on my life when my mother fell gravely ill and passed away two weeks later on June 6th.
I'm currently back in LA, after being gone for three weeks.  I'm looking forward to continuing my comedy journey, as I feel it will save me from myself at this time.  But while I'm functioning okay as I'm still in a great deal of shock and my current mode is auto pilot, certain hours of the day prove to me that I'm very jumbled up and confused about my mom's passing.  I suddenly don't know what I'm in for and I don't know what I'm doing.
Not knowing what I'm doing …

Ocean Front Members Only

Is this a style post only I could bring you or what?  Not only did I mix prints (three times, as the Forever 21 shirt is gingham, the ModCloth briefcase is dinosaur printed, and my true vintage skirt is an ocean front border print!) but I'm mixing vintage with modern fashion.  It seems that many vintage-y bloggers tend to stray from any trends, which is silly to me because these bomber jackets are SO comfortable and practical for between seasons weather (and frankly, Members Only IS a vintage brand)!  I tied this whole look together with using the Members Only Satin Washed Boyfriend Jacket in burgundy with these platform heels from Amazon by Dadawen.  I feel the burgundy bookends bounce off the greens and blues nicely.

How's everyone's week been?  Thanks for allowing me to take a week off!  Not only did I have obligations at the Comedy Central Stage and the Upright Citizen's Brigade stage this week, but I was hosting one of my very best friends who came to visit me!  …
