Monday Morning

Monday Announcements:

  • Hey all!  I hope everyone had a lovely weekend- I know I did!  I don't have much to report on blog-land news, but as promised here is the latest Just Shair video on all the weirdo ways people are spelling their kids names + some of the more truly bizarre new names out there.  (The jokes borderline wrote themselves, honestly).  This video was tons of fun to make and people are writing to us with so many other unusual names we've never heard of that we may need to do a sequel at some point.  Thanks for the support!!  And if you're interested...Pinterest and funny celebrity crushes may be the next videos coming down the pipe ;)
(Style details: dress is J Crew Factory and the brooch is Erstwilder)

Behind the outfit!
Folter's website (which carries both Folter and Retrolicious) has had some of the best sales of the year!  About a month or so ago they discounted a bunch of dresses, and this yellow one caught my eye.  I didn't remember it from the site (and I stalk the site regularly) and haven't seen it since the sale ended!!  I think it's a rarer dress and possibly was just up for sale as a sample sale type thing.  In fact, I could only find it on one other site!  It's totally gorgeous though, and as I've mentioned recently, yellow is somewhat of a go-to color of mine so I'm loving it for that reason alone!

Style details!
Sunglasses- Old Navy
Dress- Retrolicious
Brooch- Erstwilder (can still be found HERE)
Shoes- Nine West

Music time!
The struggle was real with naming this post after a song, y'all!  Not much is in my musical repertoire involving yellow, deer, or even dinos (my brooch).  I almost named this post "Yellow Retrolicious Deer Dress" because I was stumped.  But then looking at one of my favorite bands music catalog, my memory got jogged that there's a Pulp song called "Monday Morning" was appropriate given that it was Monday.  Happy Monday, all!!

I've recently added two pages to this blog, one that catalogues posts named after songs and another that catalogues all of the concert stories.  Click the links on to see for yourself!  Happy Friday!

  1. The dress is so cute! I love the scoop neck and fun print. The bright background also compliments it quite nicely :)

And I agree with the crazy names. Why would someone name their child Katniss?! I also feel sorry for the poor baby girl named Michaela but with 14 letters. I remember there was this one girl in high school who purposely changed her name from Lauren to Lauryen, because she thought adding a "y" was cool. When she tried explaining this to our econ teacher he gave her the best "I am not impressed at all" face ever lol

  2. This dress fits you like a glove. Love how bright and fun it looks!
    Happy day!

  3. Pretty dress! !!

  4. I love your dress Lauren! Very cool combo with the wedges!

  10. Now that was hilarious to watch! I didn't even know how many names could be spelled like this or even existed!
As for the outfit I really like how this dress fits you and the yellow color looks so beautiful with your hair!

  11. So glam here, lady- love your hair like this!

    Le Stylo Rouge

  12. I love this dress! The print and cut are beautiful, and those sunnies totally pull everything together!

  15. Wow, Lauren, what a great video, I had no idea that some of the names, which you mentioned in this video, exist! What's more, I love your dress, it's so pretty and feminine! <3

  16. You look so beautiful, Lauren! I adore your dress paired with those shoes, such a pretty spring outfit! You two are so funny! You had me cracking up when you said, "add five x's and you can call him Jackson Five." Haha! It's crazy to think that people name and spell their kids' names like that! I remember when I first heard Gwyneth Paltrow name her kid, what?! Why??? I can only imagine what the teachers in those rich Beverly Hill private schools have to go through in pronouncing and memorizing these kids' names! Haha! Have a great week ahead, girlie, and thanks so much for sharing!

  17. Love this dress on you! I've never seen that one before anywhere!

  18. That dress is so gorgeous and you look so lovely in it! Love this post xx

  19. Cute dress! I have the same cut, but in the Little Red Riding Hood print. I love this cut so much.

I posted another bag oufit I think you'll like!

  21. This dress is just beautiful, and the fit is spot on! I love that A line flare to the skirt. Those sandals are a perfect touch too

  22. Oooh I love this dress! You look fabulous! And I have been debating buying that same brooch! I adore that little dinosaur. :)

Haha! Loved this addition of Just Shair too! No one would mess with a kid named Darth Vader, haha. (Or a girl named Chewy, lol.)

  23. great style dear

  24. Super fun outfit! I just adore your Erstwilder baby dino. That was my favourite of theirs from the recent dinosaur line.

  31. I can't wait to watch the video later tonight or tomorrow (little one is down with a fever, sigh) but no kidding about parents naming crazy names for the kids or stupid spellings. I mean seriously, why do that to the child? So the kid can standout more? Terrible.

  32. "Just add five x's and make it a Jackson Five" = LOLLLLLL this slayed me. I also like the Full House trio of names, and I think Emily is a great name for a girl OR a boy! Hahaha. I definitely think parents who choose 'unique' spellings are just cruel: they're setting their little bundle of joy up for a lifetime of headaches.

In other news, I love the print of this dress!

  33. I can't for Just Shair's next video, sounds like it's going to be a laugh and half! ;) I love the style of this dress and the sun glasses just make it even more awesome!

  34. Your outfit is perfect!
    Have a nice week-end!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Win $100 Towards a JORD Watch!

What time is it?  THE TIME IS NOW.  Okay, now that I've gotten my favorite line from a Kids in the Hall sketch that I saw when I was 12 out of my system let's get to business!  The time is actually time to register for a watch giveaway and/or get a coupon, all thanks to JORD Watches. (Pronounced "Youd" as in like toad or road.  OR "Yoda" with no "a.")

Check out THIS LINK to try to get $100  towards a JORD watch and free sizing AND shipping.  This will go on for two weeks, so hop to it!  You can also get a $25 coupon with the code "blairosaurus" over the next two weeks too.  And if there's any menfolk out there reading, JORD has both women and mens watches.  Yay!

I'm rocking the Frankie Purple and Plum and seriously loving it.  I love how big the face is and it compliments my hair and many of my frequent signature colors that I wear.  The watches are made from wood so they're very durable and sturdy.  I thought the watches w…

Ocean Front Members Only

Is this a style post only I could bring you or what?  Not only did I mix prints (three times, as the Forever 21 shirt is gingham, the ModCloth briefcase is dinosaur printed, and my true vintage skirt is an ocean front border print!) but I'm mixing vintage with modern fashion.  It seems that many vintage-y bloggers tend to stray from any trends, which is silly to me because these bomber jackets are SO comfortable and practical for between seasons weather (and frankly, Members Only IS a vintage brand)!  I tied this whole look together with using the Members Only Satin Washed Boyfriend Jacket in burgundy with these platform heels from Amazon by Dadawen.  I feel the burgundy bookends bounce off the greens and blues nicely.

How's everyone's week been?  Thanks for allowing me to take a week off!  Not only did I have obligations at the Comedy Central Stage and the Upright Citizen's Brigade stage this week, but I was hosting one of my very best friends who came to visit me!  …
