My Cherie Amour

Monday Thursday Announcements:
Greetings!  I didn't mean to take over a week off from the blogosphere!  A perfect storm of my dog's surgery, striking out 3x the past 2 weeks in an attempt to get the next month's photos (weather issues, usual spots being occupied, etc), and realizing I may need a slight break caused this.
  • Thank you all so much to those who inquired about my beagle's surgery!  As of Tuesday, I learned that she is in fact now officially CANCER FREE!  I'm so excited.  This whole experience was surreal.  Other than the fact that she's an aging dog and has slowed down some over the past few years, she hasn't seemed sick in the slightest.  She was PISSED after the surgery, but the next day she was strutting through the hallways and happy as a clam.  If lab results came back that the cancer had spread I would have had an aneurysm out of confusion.  Once the stitches come out next week and her purple cone can be removed, this will be a weird distant memory!  Thanks again!
  • For those who are intrigued about my upcoming comedy ventures....check back with me March 17th (St. Patrick's day)!!!  Things will not be fully launched then, but official announcements and new social media will be debuted and the actual content will be coming at you in either April or possibly early May.  I feel so happy and privileged to be announcing this since my first comedy project I teased you guys about combusted a few weeks into filming.  Seriously...I can't express how excited I am to be a month out from this starting to publicly snowball into whatever it will become!

About the outfit:  This dress is from Retrolicious and I got it Black Friday week on super clearance from Unique Vintage.  (Seriously, the reason I own so many Retrolicious/Folter dresses + Bernies are that I wait for sales, haha).  This dress has been around for a few years and I had wanted it for a while.  It used to be on ModCloth--I thought it still was--but apparently it's out of stock (I feel like they've restocked this a few times before unexpectedly, so perhaps they will again).  You can find it here on Folter's website.

Style details:  The rest of the outfit showcases sunglasses from a promotional event (haha), a Banana Republic cardigan, Deer Arrow brooch, earrings from Old Navy, a Pinup Girl Clothing belt, Dooney and Burke purse, and Ralph Lauren shoes via DSW.

Motivational: Sometimes I just feel like laughing.  There's more where this comes from and I do want to expand on some kind of revealing thoughts I've had recently while remembering some unpleasant memories, like about being made fun of for who I am etc and how me not caring proved to be a defining moment where years later I'm so grateful for as I'm pursuing something that I love.  But my brain is kind of hazy from an impromptu run this afternoon (it's that time of year here where it's either 70 degrees or a blizzard is happening, and the former was going on!) so I'll save that for another time.  For now, this video genuinely (and kind of unexpectedly) made me laugh this week, so I'm sharing it in hopes it makes you laugh too.  I'm not going to lie...I am kind of curious about the Fuller House show...I'm skeptical that'll be good once the nostalgia wears off, but I AM curious!  What about you guys??

Music time:  It's hard not to like Stevie Wonder.  Talented, Motown bred, and all-around hit maker who seemingly has had respect in every decade since the small feat!  Some of the cheesier hits of his aren't necessarily my faves, but I also don't turn the radio when they come on the radio either!  "My Cherie Amour" is a good example of this, and given the romantic Paris theme of the dress it seemed like a fitting blog post title!

I've recently added two pages to this blog, one that catalogues posts named after songs and another that catalogues all of the concert stories.  Click the links on to see for yourself!  Happy Friday!

  5. Hello! I am so, so glad to know that you dog is fine now, just the stitches needing to be removed and she will be fine again! I am really happy for that! And also, that you will announce your new project, comedy project, soon! I am really glad about that and curious :) A break from the blogosphere is important from time to time. I hope you maybe make once a week, a post, so that we get weekly news! I love your dresses, you know that! And this one is really so sweet and you look so beautiful! By the way, such a coincidence - I watched such a lovely show today and it was about Stevie Wonder! He is lovely! Hope you have a lovely weekend!

  6. So glad to hear that everything is going well with your dog. We all need a break sometimes so it's totally fine. That Fuller House clip made me all kinds of nostalgic. I wasn't really expecting to tune in when it returns but maybe I'll give it a shot. That clip was really cute.

  7. Lovely outfit!
And good to hear that dog is doing well.
Having a break is needed sometimes.
    Much love,

  8. I am so so happy to hear that your dog is doing well! Congratulations! Is the wonderful news! Also congratulations about your upcoming comedy venture! I love your outfit! The print on this dress is gorgeous! And I love the little peter pan collar. I'm like with Bernie Dexter. All of my BD I've gotten on sale or for really good prices through swap and sell groups with the exception of one which turned out if I waited I totally could have gotten it on sale.

  9. I love your outfit here! and I'm so happy for your dog :)

  11. Soooo happy your dog is cancer free Lauren what a relief! I'm loving the background with this outfit it just adds to the whole retro pinup look and I LOVE IT!!! I'm so excited for Fuller House although like a lot of people I'm sad that Mary-Kate and Ashley won't be appearing but I totally understand it at the same time. They had a pretty hard core childhood that shouldn't be wished upon anyone. It will be interesting to see what the series brings though!

  12. Love the black details on this outfit. And so happy to hear your beagle is cancer free! Yay!

  13. Welcome back! I missed your posts, and hope you're feeling reenergized! This outfit is fabulous, too -- these are such good colors on you!

  14. Omg I'm so happy to hear that your beagle is cancer free! What a relief! Our cat was sick last week and we also had to rush to the vet, but everything is good now!
Loving the dress print, if I had this dress would probably wear it everywhere! Wishing you wonderful week Lauren!

  15. This Dress goes perfect with your hair <3

  16. I am finally back from my family vacation and I swear I need a vacation from my vacation, am so exhausted! It's so good to hear that your dog is on a good road to recovery, I can imagine how relieved you felt. xx

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Win $100 Towards a JORD Watch!

What time is it?  THE TIME IS NOW.  Okay, now that I've gotten my favorite line from a Kids in the Hall sketch that I saw when I was 12 out of my system let's get to business!  The time is actually time to register for a watch giveaway and/or get a coupon, all thanks to JORD Watches. (Pronounced "Youd" as in like toad or road.  OR "Yoda" with no "a.")

Check out THIS LINK to try to get $100  towards a JORD watch and free sizing AND shipping.  This will go on for two weeks, so hop to it!  You can also get a $25 coupon with the code "blairosaurus" over the next two weeks too.  And if there's any menfolk out there reading, JORD has both women and mens watches.  Yay!

I'm rocking the Frankie Purple and Plum and seriously loving it.  I love how big the face is and it compliments my hair and many of my frequent signature colors that I wear.  The watches are made from wood so they're very durable and sturdy.  I thought the watches w…

Ocean Front Members Only

Is this a style post only I could bring you or what?  Not only did I mix prints (three times, as the Forever 21 shirt is gingham, the ModCloth briefcase is dinosaur printed, and my true vintage skirt is an ocean front border print!) but I'm mixing vintage with modern fashion.  It seems that many vintage-y bloggers tend to stray from any trends, which is silly to me because these bomber jackets are SO comfortable and practical for between seasons weather (and frankly, Members Only IS a vintage brand)!  I tied this whole look together with using the Members Only Satin Washed Boyfriend Jacket in burgundy with these platform heels from Amazon by Dadawen.  I feel the burgundy bookends bounce off the greens and blues nicely.

How's everyone's week been?  Thanks for allowing me to take a week off!  Not only did I have obligations at the Comedy Central Stage and the Upright Citizen's Brigade stage this week, but I was hosting one of my very best friends who came to visit me!  …
