There's The Girl

Jenny January day #3!  (Other Jenny posts can be found here and here).  This is the first Jenny skirt that I'm showing on the blog that is a Mary Blair skirt.  I first debuted this skirt about two months ago (here) though I've had it since the spring or summer and wear it semi-frequently.  I think the was my last Mary Blair purchase, which I put off for a while because it's a floral print and I flock towards the crazy novelty prints before florals...even though this floral is AMAZING!  I do kind of want it's twin, which comes in a pink shade with more teals, but if that's never restocked then so be it.  This is my favorite color scheme so I'm more than content!  Apparently MORE Mary Blair is coming to PUG this spring, but I believe they're just restyling pieces to have different fits but keeping the same patterns.  If that's so I'll probably not indulge, as I have the pieces I want and in the styles I like.  Now, if they ever do more (read: new) Mary Blair art on clothing...that'll be a big day for my wardrobe!

The style details are the head scarf is from Target, the sunglasses are from Clothes Mentor, the cardigan is Forever 21, the brooch is Deer Arrow, the skirt is Pinup Girl Clothing, the bracelet is banana republic, and the shoes are Ralph Lauren.  The shirt is a concert tee from when I saw Heart almost 5 years ago (with Def Leppard...dream concert alert!).  Who says you can't rock out while emulating pinup looks?!

I'm a die hard Heart fan.  Though I was in college, like DECADES after the women I'm about to mention were at their musical prime, Heart, Pat Benatar, Blondie, and Joan Jett became idols to me around my 21st birthday.  I've never been super into music from my generation, though I did eventually discover good music from all years including now, so I've always had a tendency to go backwards in time to discover new favorites.  Late college was definitely my 70s/80s female rocker kick, and it has largely stayed with me ever since!  I figured why not name this post after one of Heart's songs?  I went with one of my favorites but lesser played songs, "There's The Girl" because I'm honestly not sure I'll have a better excuse to use that as a blog post name again!  And again, I'm taking a break from adding positive or motivating parts to the blog this week, but I have a heavy and meaningful post coming at ya on Friday to make up for it, so don't forget ;)  Happy Wednesday!

I've recently added two pages to this blog, one that catalogues posts named after songs and another that catalogues all of the concert stories.  Click the links on to see for yourself!  Happy Friday!

  9. Super cute skirt! If I didn't know better from reading your blog I would have thought it was true vintage for sure! I don't own any Mary Blair pieces... I somehow missed the boat on all the prints I really liked so I'm excited to hear they might bring in new stylings in the future! :D
