Girls, Girls, Girls

Jenny January (or #jennyjanuary on Instagram) is on day 2!  If you missed it, the first post featuring this style of skirt is HERE.  Follow the hashtag #jennyjanuary and see a bunch of my retro friends on Instagram, or follow me at @laurenblair_donovan if you don't already to see all of the Jenny fun that I'm at least having!  I'm trying to have a Jenny skirt post almost every day this week (week days at least) because I feel like I've been heavy on the Bernie Dexter and Retrolicious dresses lately (see the last 15 or so posts, haha) so it's a good excuse to catch up with a different brand.  That said, it's kind of been a one thing after the other week so we'll see!  Nothing is bad or wrong, just annoying dominos falling down and me needing to pick them up type thing.  But I have good news as my allergies are seemingly cured!  If you have winter allergies...get a humidifier!  Holy worked overnight for me and for the past two days I've been functioning like a real girl again (minus the whole craziness haha) for the first time in over a month!

But onto the skirt...this burlesque themed skirt was one of my Black Friday purchases.  Black Friday kind of bittersweet when you think about it.  You get a bunch of stuff you want at a discount, but it's winter so if you're a dress and skirt girl like me some things either get worn right away or they wait in the closet until spring.  This skirt had yet to see the light of day until this photo shoot!  And don't was warm and the snow was melting here so I was not freezing ;)  Despite it not being worn yet, I love this skirt.  When it first hit Pinup Girl Clothing I thought it was cute but wasn't sure about it.  I mean, could I pull off a skirt with a lady getting more and more naked in each frame?  But I just love the bold colors and how cheeky the print is--literally--so it just grew and grew and grew on me.  I'm looking forward to jazzing this up a lot in the summer.

The flower is from Niccoco Creations, the brooch is Poison of Choice, the sweater is J Crew Factory, and the shoes are Nine West.  I've been bringing back hair flowers to my styling choices!  When I had bangs they were the perfect accessory to look like I did my hair when I didn't really do much at all!  For some reason when I grew out my bangs last summer I dropped the ball on hair flowers and somehow didn't know where to place them without the bangs, haha!

My brain is a little fried from this past month, so I'm going to lay off my usual positivity/motivational messages for this week.  That said, if all goes my way and more dominos don't keep falling down, I do have a powerful post coming at the end of the week, so stay tuned ;)

Since this skirt features a lady getting naked, I figured why not finally talk about Motley Crue on the blog and call this post "Girls, Girls, Girls" after one of their more famous hits?  I love hair metal and all of it's excess, so this is a very appropriate tie in.  Since hair metal is so polarizing...what's your take?  Fun or not your jam?

I've recently added two pages to this blog, one that catalogues posts named after songs and another that catalogues all of the concert stories.  Click the links on to see for yourself!  Happy Friday!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

What time is it?  THE TIME IS NOW.  Okay, now that I've gotten my favorite line from a Kids in the Hall sketch that I saw when I was 12 out of my system let's get to business!  The time is actually time to register for a watch giveaway and/or get a coupon, all thanks to JORD Watches. I'm rocking the Frankie Purple and Plum and seriously loving it.  I love how big the face is and it compliments my hair and many of my frequent signature colors that I wear.  The watches are made from wood so they're very durable and sturdy.  I thought the watches w…

Ocean Front Members Only

Is this a style post only I could bring you or what?  Not only did I mix prints (three times, as the Forever 21 shirt is gingham, the ModCloth briefcase is dinosaur printed, and my true vintage skirt is an ocean front border print!) but I'm mixing vintage with modern fashion.  It seems that many vintage-y bloggers tend to stray from any trends, which is silly to me because these bomber jackets are SO comfortable and practical for between seasons weather (and frankly, Members Only IS a vintage brand)!  I tied this whole look together with using the Members Only Satin Washed Boyfriend Jacket in burgundy with these platform heels from Amazon by Dadawen.  I feel the burgundy bookends bounce off the greens and blues nicely.

How's everyone's week been?  Thanks for allowing me to take a week off!  Not only did I have obligations at the Comedy Central Stage and the Upright Citizen's Brigade stage this week, but I was hosting one of my very best friends who came to visit me!  …
