Fascination Street

You know as well as I do by now that I love vintage fashion.  But sometimes I also err on the side of classic and lady-like fashion, which is why I'm so glad Chicwish exists.  I got this 'Wander in Paris' skirt over the summer, but am only now officially showing it to the blogosphere.  Currently, it's out of stock, but in case they bring it back here's the link.  I've raved about Chicwish before, but this skirt is extra special as it's even sturdier than the other fabrics used on other skirts I own.  The print is also super beautiful in person; the photos don't give it justice.  Rounding out this outfit is a shirt from Old Navy and shoes by Guess that I found at Marshall's a few years back.

One of my favorite looks ever is a midi skirt with a button down, especially one that's tied in the front, which is why I chose that for this look.  It's very reminiscent of 1970s/1980s Ralph Lauren-esq style, and therefore I feel never goes out of fashion.

Lately I've been trying to remember to be thankful in any given moment.  It could be dumb incident like getting a parking spot up front or something bigger like narrowly avoiding an accident.  It's so easy to remember the bad times and events, that sometimes we forget how the smallest (or biggest) strokes of luck can make or break our day.  I'm at least trying to be mindful of the good stuff.  Care to join me?

The name of this blog post is a Cure song.  The Cure is one of my all-time favorite bands and they always make me so happy.  In my (official) inaugural blog post meets song title post, I chose the song "Always Love" by Nada Surf.  Some One Tree Hill fans geeked out over this, so if you guys are still reading I'm sure you associate The Cure with Peyton Sawyer a little bit!!  The show One Tree Hill is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, but I really do love the characters.  And though I'm not one to insist that all skeptics should watch the show, I will ALWAYS defend the music of the show.  The Veils?  Mclusky?  The Cure?  The National?  Tegan and Sara?  Goodness gracious, I'm short changing how impressive the show's music catalogue was because the list goes on and on and is any indie fan's dream soundtrack.  I was a fan of The Cure well before OTH, but I also never took offense to Peyton being such a die hard fan of them.  OTH geek out over!  I chose this song because the print of this skirt has maps and streets of Paris all over it.  Why not call this post "Fascination Street"?!

I've recently added two pages to this blog, one that catalogues posts named after songs and another that catalogues all of the concert stories.  Click the links on to see for yourself!  Happy Friday!

  11. This look is darn pretty! I love how you paired the midi skirt with a tied button down - and those heels! They're gorgeous. I really need to order from Chicwish one of these days...I don't believe I've seen a single thing that I didn't like from that site!

  12. The skirt is gorgeous, as well as those minty heels! xo

  13. I fell off with One tree hill a while back but I always loved their music selection. A lot of the shows that air on that channel (the CW) have excellent music.

  14. Really loving your looks more so than usual lately! Maybe It's all the printed skirts ;) The tied top and the mint heels keep it fresh. And I love finding music through TV shows - I think I first got into it with the OC and now so many series, especially on the WB, have great music. I'm constantly using shazam while watching TV!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Win $100 Towards a JORD Watch!

What time is it?  THE TIME IS NOW.  Okay, now that I've gotten my favorite line from a Kids in the Hall sketch that I saw when I was 12 out of my system let's get to business!  The time is actually time to register for a watch giveaway and/or get a coupon, all thanks to JORD Watches. (Pronounced "Youd" as in like toad or road.  OR "Yoda" with no "a.")

Check out THIS LINK to try to get $100  towards a JORD watch and free sizing AND shipping.  This will go on for two weeks, so hop to it!  You can also get a $25 coupon with the code "blairosaurus" over the next two weeks too.  And if there's any menfolk out there reading, JORD has both women and mens watches.  Yay!

I'm rocking the Frankie Purple and Plum and seriously loving it.  I love how big the face is and it compliments my hair and many of my frequent signature colors that I wear.  The watches are made from wood so they're very durable and sturdy.  I thought the watches w…

Ocean Front Members Only

Is this a style post only I could bring you or what?  Not only did I mix prints (three times, as the Forever 21 shirt is gingham, the ModCloth briefcase is dinosaur printed, and my true vintage skirt is an ocean front border print!) but I'm mixing vintage with modern fashion.  It seems that many vintage-y bloggers tend to stray from any trends, which is silly to me because these bomber jackets are SO comfortable and practical for between seasons weather (and frankly, Members Only IS a vintage brand)!  I tied this whole look together with using the Members Only Satin Washed Boyfriend Jacket in burgundy with these platform heels from Amazon by Dadawen.  I feel the burgundy bookends bounce off the greens and blues nicely.

How's everyone's week been?  Thanks for allowing me to take a week off!  Not only did I have obligations at the Comedy Central Stage and the Upright Citizen's Brigade stage this week, but I was hosting one of my very best friends who came to visit me!  …
