Lauren Blair in Mary Blair: Lips and Roses Print in Lavender

Hey all!  This is basically a post to say hey and happy holidays!  Even if you're not in the US, it appears that a lot of online retailers on the international front participate in some form of Black Friday sales...and that's a great holiday worth celebrating!!  I don't celebrate Christmas, so this week is kind of "my Christmas."  Sure, I stock up on some basics and other whatnots, but in the vintage reproduction world, there isn't as high of a turnover as say, mall stores.  Some items are around on websites for a year or two, so when Black Friday (week) comes around it's an awesome feeling to snatch the stuff you've been drooling over for a year or so.  Honestly, this year some sales are (so far) less than impressive, while others are amazing.  My game is a little thrown off, because without naming names, some retailers are doing things WAY differently than past years.  My strategy for getting what I want this week keeps changing, haha.  Regardless, though material goods are not the keys to happiness, I'd be lying if I said that I was less than thankful that I'm getting stuff in the mail soon that I really want.  I maintain and have said numerous times that getting dressed every day is a tiny but powerful part of your day that's in your control, and having as much fun with it as possible is a small way to have more fun in life.  What's your Black Friday (week) plans??

If you're going out tonight, please be safe and plan ahead how you're getting home!  This is the biggest party night of the year, and the holidays in general are a time where people make a lot of bad decisions on the road, so exercise caution please!  I want to see your beautiful faces in my comments, on Instagram, and in your blog (if you have one) for many moons to come!  And if you're in Colorado, it's supposed to start snowing sometime this evening so be double careful!

This is the final Mary Blair piece that I own from Pinup Girl Clothing.  I'm surprised it took me so long to show you guys officially on the blog!  I've worn it a bit, but for whatever reason getting it photographed for the blog got delayed by several months.  Time flies!  As you have probably come to know, I love crazy novelty prints.  I also love purple and green, as well as purple and red, so this skirt screamed my name.  The print itself isn't as crazy, which is why I put off buying it for a while thinking I could talk myself out of a floral print, but it really isn't your average floral print at all.  I could stare at this skirt for hours because it's so beautiful and well done.  I'm thankful I did end up getting it.  It's easy to style with almost any color, and because it has a few different hues in it it's an effortless skirt to go from season to season.  As I said, this is my final Mary Blair piece.  If PUG does a huge Black Friday sale on Friday like they did last year, I may acquire one or two more, but we'll see!  Otherwise, this may be my final Mary Blair post!!  For interested parties, last year PUG did a 30% site wide sale, including items already on sale.  I got a few Jenny skirts for something ridiculous like $25, so it's definitely worth following them on Instagram or subscribing to their newsletter if they're a brand you love or have been curious about!!
I've recently added two pages to this blog, one that catalogues posts named after songs and another that catalogues all of the concert stories.  Click the links on to see for yourself!  Happy Friday!

  2. I don't plan on shopping the sales (not that there are many in Germany), because Black Friday hasn't really settled into my sales radar yet. It isn't a big thing in Germany, and even though many online retailers participate, I just forget about it usually.

  5. Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Black Friday to you! Black Friday is my all time favorite shopping day of the year! I think I know what you mean about some retailers doing things differently this year... I noticed a lot more companies than usual starting (and some even ending) their black friday sales early which really makes me wonder what if anything they will do on actual black friday and the rest of the Christmas shopping season. I love your Mary Blair skirt! I really loved the Mary Blair collection but didn't get anything myself from that collection. I am keeping my fingers crossed Pinup Girl will have a good black friday sale like last year though because I'm really hoping to get two PUG dresses this year <3 But hey, if they don't, I'll probably just take my black friday shopping money to Trashy Diva :P LOL <3 Stay safe this holiday!

  11. Your hair is too cute in that pony! I can't get over how different Black Friday is this year. It seems like retialers are starting way earlier with pre sales and some, like amazon, are doing sales for only certain time frames. Weird haha. Anyway, this skirt is so pretty! I love the colors and gow you piared it with red accessories. Beautiful.

Go CUBS!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Win $100 Towards a JORD Watch!

What time is it?  THE TIME IS NOW.  Okay, now that I've gotten my favorite line from a Kids in the Hall sketch that I saw when I was 12 out of my system let's get to business!  The time is actually time to register for a watch giveaway and/or get a coupon, all thanks to JORD Watches. (Pronounced "Youd" as in like toad or road.  OR "Yoda" with no "a.")

Check out THIS LINK to try to get $100  towards a JORD watch and free sizing AND shipping.  This will go on for two weeks, so hop to it!  You can also get a $25 coupon with the code "blairosaurus" over the next two weeks too.  And if there's any menfolk out there reading, JORD has both women and mens watches.  Yay!

I'm rocking the Frankie Purple and Plum and seriously loving it.  I love how big the face is and it compliments my hair and many of my frequent signature colors that I wear.  The watches are made from wood so they're very durable and sturdy.  I thought the watches w…

Comedy and Tragedy

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.  I generally hate cliche quotes that can easily be slapped on memes or on the coffee mug of a basic b!tch, but I'm hard pressed to find a better phrase to describe my life currently.  In short: I've been having the most fun that I've ever had in the eight months since I moved to LA, but then the emergency breaks got slammed on my life when my mother fell gravely ill and passed away two weeks later on June 6th.
I'm currently back in LA, after being gone for three weeks.  I'm looking forward to continuing my comedy journey, as I feel it will save me from myself at this time.  But while I'm functioning okay as I'm still in a great deal of shock and my current mode is auto pilot, certain hours of the day prove to me that I'm very jumbled up and confused about my mom's passing.  I suddenly don't know what I'm in for and I don't know what I'm doing.
Not knowing what I'm doing …
