Renegade Princess

Like this gothic Jenny skirt from Pinup Girl Clothing?  I thought it would be appropriate to debut this week, since it's just about Halloween!  Truth be told, I found it on eBay second hand for not as much as the site lists it over the summer but never got the chance to photograph it yet.  Happy accident!  I love that it's classic while edgy, which means it's easy to style in both a feminine way as well as a more rocker way.  This time I opted to mix prints, because I love mixing prints haha.  And there's just something about a pale pink against's always one of my favorite combinations.  Rounding out this outfit I wore my Ellie Shoes saddle shoes that I haven't seen since colder months, a hair flower from Unique Vintage, and a faux leather jacket that I got from Marshalls that I've had for years.  I didn't fully intend for the jacket to make it's way into the shoot, but it was kind of chilly out and it took a few seconds for me to get us…

Little Bird

It's starting to become a lot more like fall here (see the trees in this photoset...which PS happened somewhat overnight!) but I'm still pushing for as summery ensembles as I can get away with!  In fact, some posts coming up are going to be about autumn proofing and winterizing your best summer looks, haha.  What can I say?  The first time that I moved away from home (Pennsylvania) I moved to Miami, Florida because I enjoy hot weather.
This is one of my favorite skirts, which may be surprising to some as I have a bit of a rep of being a novelty print skirt queen.  But I absolutely love this ModCloth skirt (no longer available) to pieces.  Green is one of my favorite colors and I almost consider this skirt my equivalent of a favorite pair of jeans; it's comfy and it practically goes with everything.  I decided to pair it with this awesome bird printed Sunny Girl top (which recently sold out, but if someone returns it you can watch it on this link) to keep things seasonal…

Music, Fashion, and The Kills (with Baby in Vain)

This was one of the best shows of my life, so hang tight!  But first...the fashion.  This show was on the first week of August and we had finally stopped expecting rain every damn day.  I'm in the process of collecting this pattern of Hell Bunny skirts in every color (they've discontinued the print so it is a taller order than it sounds), and I had just gotten this blue one in the mail (I have pink and black too).  I decided it seemed summery and even a little bit rock and roll, or at least rockabilly, so whatever!  I find floral prints to be super easy to mix patterns with, so I tucked in this stripped Forever 21 top into the skirt and accessorized it with a matching hair flower from Sophisticated Lady Flowers, my gold Kate Spade bag, and ankle straps sandals (also from Forever 21) for comfort while walking and standing all night.
This was one of the only concerts I went to this summer where I really "nailed it" in regards to fashion involving comfort, plus being…

Non-Jeans Based Sports Fan Outfits

Oye, it's (American) football season.  In terms of the major four sports franchises here in the states, my favorites are ranked as follows:
1. Baseball.  This is actually the only sport that matters to me. 2. Basketball.  I'm from a basketball family.  I can get into it on occasion. 3. Hockey.  Sure, why not? 4. Football.  Unless brunch is involved or Denver is in the Super Bowl, I'm out!
My personal ranking system aside, I acknowledge that football is a huge deal here in the states, and because it's a shorter season with less games, I usually get roped into being out with friends at a sports bar while some big game is on.  I'm not immune to showing team spirit, though jeans and a tee...not really my jam.  This was supposed to go out a few weeks ago with more outfits, but here are two of the six(ish) ideas I had on how to be vintage-y or feminine while having team spirit, and hopefully I'll post the rest of my ideas as the season goes on...and as my missing Br…

Man oh man, am I struggling with keeping up with blogging world as of late.  It's been an unusual week, for sure.  It's possible for the rest of 2015 may be like this (it may not be too, as my schedule keeps changing on me and I've just stopped trying to predict the future), but regardless I will always come back if I go awol again.  Promise!
This dress!!!!  If you've been following me for a while you'll know that while I tend to favor mid-century novelty print skirts, I also have a weakness for 70s maxi dresses.  Fun fact: I hadn't even tried this dress on when I photographed this photoset!  You see, the weather gets really unpredictable here over the fall and winter.  I'm trying to do myself a favor and photograph as many outfits as I want to talk about on the blog--baring from collaborations that haven't happened yet etc--so I don't have to worry about wind and bad weather and have a lot of things ready to go without worrying about it.  So when …

Music, Fashion, and the Underground Music Showcase (UMS) Days 3 & 4

If you remember from the last post from my concert going adventures,  the first two days of UMS weren't really a bust but they were a little slow.  This now changes drastically!
The good thing about the true weekend portion of this festival is that the event starts earlier in the day.  (2PM).  Less trying to cram things in, crowds get a little more spaced apart, and you have great natural lighting for taking pictures at least half of the day.  Before going into details of the day...the clothes! I got two Express strapless dresses on sale during the 4th of July for days hot summer days exactly like this.  I've mentioned once or twice before that if I know I'm going to be in the sun, I try to avoid tan lines as much as possible and strapless is my favorite means of doing so.  I wanted to pair this white dress with something really bright, fun, and summery so I went with all turquoise and cool blues to accessorize. There's this place called "The Yellow House" …
