Swimwear Saturday: Ancient Old Navy Tropical Print Two Piece

Oh my goodness, it's Labor Day Weekend!  Back in June I took all of my swimwear photos for these posts and I was hoping that I would get more pictures over the summer at friend's pools and whatnot. As I mentioned, it's been raining a ton here in Colorado so that just proved to not be meant to be really.  I suppose this is fine as I didn't post all of the swimwear photos every single weekend this summer, as some schedule conflicts prevented me from doing so.  And now it's September!!  This is my second to last swimwear post for 2015.  The next one will combine two suits but in the same style as a double feature to say farewell to summer!  Although, if you're in the southern hemisphere it can be your welcome party to summer, haha!
I literally cannot remember when I got this swimsuit!  It's from Old Navy and I feel like it's on the safe side to say that it's from at least a decade ago!!  Old Navy is typically a store that I use for staples, a la sweaters, tanks, and maybe some jewelry, as opposed to statement pieces but I do have a weakness for their swimwear.  I have at least two other pieces from them (that are from more recent years) that I totally love.  And the fact that I've had this suit for forever means that it's held up very well over the years!  I remember having a few suits from Old Navy in high school and they held up for close to a decade later as well before the elastic got shot.  Old Navy, you really do make quality swimwear!
Brand:
What I like about this suit:
It's soft to the touch, has a gorgeous print, and fits extremely well.  I find it to be a great combo of a sexy bikini but somehow not too revealing either because of it's unique cuts in it's style.

Quality Control:
Suburb.

Problem Areas:
The only thing I can think of isn't as much with this suit but with Old Navy suits in general: you have to be in a store to try on your exact sizes.  I'm generally an XS across the board at Old Navy but every suit is so different that I need to see for myself how it fits.  Certain suits cut you across in an unflattering way in smaller sizes but can be too big in bigger sizes.  I don't recommend online shopping for swimwear from Old Navy as there doesn't seem to be a consensus with sizing.

  1. You are very right about Old Navy, people need to be there to try the exact size. For everything, I guess - I have an experience on that, I bought the item online and it... was not my size! This bikini is so beautiful, I liked the colors and you look really, really stunning! I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

  7. I really like the print! :)

I find that unless I'm buying a brand I'm familiar with (like Funkita) I'd much rather try on swimwear in store, like you said different cuts can sit differently!

Go CUBS!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Ocean Front Members Only

Is this a style post only I could bring you or what?  Not only did I mix prints (three times, as the Forever 21 shirt is gingham, the ModCloth briefcase is dinosaur printed, and my true vintage skirt is an ocean front border print!) but I'm mixing vintage with modern fashion.  It seems that many vintage-y bloggers tend to stray from any trends, which is silly to me because these bomber jackets are SO comfortable and practical for between seasons weather (and frankly, Members Only IS a vintage brand)!  I tied this whole look together with using the Members Only Satin Washed Boyfriend Jacket in burgundy with these platform heels from Amazon by Dadawen.  I feel the burgundy bookends bounce off the greens and blues nicely.

How's everyone's week been?  Thanks for allowing me to take a week off!  Not only did I have obligations at the Comedy Central Stage and the Upright Citizen's Brigade stage this week, but I was hosting one of my very best friends who came to visit me!  …

Comedy and Tragedy

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.  I generally hate cliche quotes that can easily be slapped on memes or on the coffee mug of a basic b!tch, but I'm hard pressed to find a better phrase to describe my life currently.  In short: I've been having the most fun that I've ever had in the eight months since I moved to LA, but then the emergency breaks got slammed on my life when my mother fell gravely ill and passed away two weeks later on June 6th.
I'm currently back in LA, after being gone for three weeks.  I'm looking forward to continuing my comedy journey, as I feel it will save me from myself at this time.  But while I'm functioning okay as I'm still in a great deal of shock and my current mode is auto pilot, certain hours of the day prove to me that I'm very jumbled up and confused about my mom's passing.  I suddenly don't know what I'm in for and I don't know what I'm doing.
Not knowing what I'm doing …
