Summer Lovin' Roundup!

This season was my toughest roundup yet, folks!  I usually keep score as a season goes on of not only looks that I like, but looks that I like that fit the season that we're in.  This way ensures that I have less work to do for a blog post like this, haha.  This summer had wackadoodle weather here in Denver, so I didn't get as many "traditional" summer outfits.  Plus, I did a series on swimwear, which is summery, but that felt weird to showcase the swimsuits again as I didn't want to be overly indulgent with that stuff!  I did find several summer looks though, so without further ado, here's my most searched for seasonal roundup yet!!
This was literally taken on the first day of summer.  Unlike the first day of Spring, I had no planning ahead of time in regards to a summer outfit.  I almost wore a rainbow maxi dress (seen here!!) on this day because I was popping by Denver Pride, but upon looking at my weather app and seeing it was going to be 99 degrees I opted for something a little bit more airy.  If we've been virtual friends since last summer, you've known for a while that my favorite summer look is a midi skirt with a crop top.  It combines old world and classic fashion with a touch of modern sex appeal.  And, because the skirt is longer I'm not actually showing that much skin, despite the crop top.
Something about this outfit, and the way the sun is coming through the photo, screams summer to me.    I think the fact that the outfit is both white and black, as well as it has other colors in it helps make it so summery somehow.  This is one of my favorite vintage skirts and you can read about this original post here.
It would be remiss not to include this outfit on a summer roundup!  It's white and aqua and turquoise! Plus strapless and short!  It was a typical day for most Denver summers (though unusual for this one) in that it was seriously like 100 degrees and that is the exact reason why I own a lot of skater dresses.  I wore this to day 3 of the Underground Music Showcase in July, which I'll actually be blogging about on Wednesday, so don't forget to check back here ;)
This isn't my favorite photo, but I'm a little bit partial to it because it was one of the only times this summer that I got to wear a fun novelty print sundress when it was mega hot out.  I went to so many concerts this summer wearing sundresses when it was just a touch too chilly out, so I feel victorious picking correctly for this event, haha.  Read more about this night seeing Jurassic 5 and SF1 HERE!
The colors and short dress make me think of summer here, except in a 70s cocktail party kind of way.  Gotta love the 70s with wrap dresses, right?!  This was taken for a collaboration with Happiness Boutique.  Read all about it here.
Yes, it's a long dress but it's the only wedding I went to this summer.  It feels remiss to not include one of my most glamorous dresses!!  Read more about it HERE.
This was technically taken a week or two before summer started.  But I didn't publish this post until July.  And, there's a pool PLUS bright colors.  Read all about this amazing vintage skirt HERE.
This may be my favorite look of the summer.  It's bright with bold AND cool colors, but the strapless shirt makes it impossible to mistake that it's not a warm season.  Something about the lighting also gives off that summer air.  I knew I did well with this experiment of mixing prints because everywhere I went people commented on liking my "dress", not realizing it was two separate pieces.

Is anyone else having trouble believing that it's fall?  Usually each year "flies by."  This year isn't, but I feel like things-especially weather wise-have been off so I almost don't know what time of year I think this should be.  What's everyone else's take??  Got fun autumn plans (or spring...for the southern hemisphere crowd!)?  Got a style strategy?  Sound off in the comments, please!! XO

  19. I agree with you, midi skirt with crop top, amazing - well, in my case, I don;t have a beautiful figure like you, so for me a midi skirt and a top, not crop :) I loved the white look, so sweet! I always loved green, so I love one of your skirts, but some time ago I wasn't a fan of yellow, but some years ago I started to be - and so, I loved your yellow outfit! I hope you have a nice week and I loved your comment, by the way. Stress do play a big role in health!
