Green Light

Greetings!  Can you tell that I love this crop top yet?  I've worn it in several posts this summer and it's certainly a staple!  Not worn enough this summer are these green high waisted shorts.  I wore them last summer while biking around Fort Collins as a means of being practical plus stylish.  Because the weather has been so back and forth here my plans to wear dress shorts a lot this summer have been somewhat derailed!  Oh well, I'll look forward to wearing shorts over tights come fall/winter!

Forgive me too, as I've been mega slow with blogging and such for about a week now.  Something in my wonderful state of Colorado is on fire and I'm having allergic reactions left and right.  I historically have energy issues too and I've been going strong all summer (yay!!!), but lately I've been feeling myself burning out a bit.  I guess having an allergic reaction coinciding with being fatigued isn't the worst combo--at least it's all at once.  Plus, it means watching reruns of Gilmore Girls on how can I complain?!  Hopefully I'll be back into a regular swing of things over the next few days!

In one of my more recent posts, I announced that I was going to try to use song titles for as many outfit posts as humanly possible.  This post's name is "Green Light."  Any guess as to who it's by?  The answer is at the bottom of this post ;-)

What I love about the high waisted trend is that it's easy to find "pinup" or "retro" looks at mall stores, often for way less for them than you would at a specialty store.  These I got at Forever 21 a few years back.

How has everyone's summer been going?  It's kind of been hitting me how close to over summer is getting.  Granted, Denver typically has Indian Summer well into October so this may be a moot point.  But this whole year has been wackadoodle so who knows what's in store next.  I'm not great with idle time and after a few years of off and on illness, I went into this summer determined to stay busy and have the best possible time ever.  Mission accomplished, but the fact that it's ending is messing with my brain!  My fall is half book and half open and I don't love this fact.  But I have to remind myself that with joining a band and trying to get the online comedy project off the ground is going to fill in those gaps and very quickly at that.  (For those who have been asking--thank you!!-- we'll debut them on a YouTube channel and possible corresponding blog by the end of the year or early 2016).

Have you all had the summer you wanted?  Why or why not?  What are your feelings as we rapidly approach a new season?

Here's the song that this post was named after!  "Green Light" is by Sonic Youth-one of my top three favorite bands!!!  It a more obscure song of theirs and doesn't have a video, but I included a YouTube video for easy listening purposes.  This post was actually harder to name as surprisingly there's not nearly as many songs about green items or shorts!!!

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Ocean Front Members Only

Is this a style post only I could bring you or what?  Not only did I mix prints (three times, as the Forever 21 shirt is gingham, the ModCloth briefcase is dinosaur printed, and my true vintage skirt is an ocean front border print!) but I'm mixing vintage with modern fashion.  It seems that many vintage-y bloggers tend to stray from any trends, which is silly to me because these bomber jackets are SO comfortable and practical for between seasons weather (and frankly, Members Only IS a vintage brand)!  I tied this whole look together with using the Members Only Satin Washed Boyfriend Jacket in burgundy with these platform heels from Amazon by Dadawen.  I feel the burgundy bookends bounce off the greens and blues nicely.

How's everyone's week been?  Thanks for allowing me to take a week off!  Not only did I have obligations at the Comedy Central Stage and the Upright Citizen's Brigade stage this week, but I was hosting one of my very best friends who came to visit me!  …
