Dinosaur World

First off, how was everyone's 4th of July?  Maybe this will make me sound like a monster, but I'm not a big fireworks kind of girl.  I guess they just don't intrigue me as I feel once you've seen about a dozen you've seen them all.  That and I tend to have allergy headaches this time of year so I don't like to make plans in advance to be around loud noises without knowing how the cards will fall for me.  Luckily this year I had a partner in crime who shares my apathy and we paired up to see stand-up, Jurassic World, and went out to Red Rocks in Morrison, CO at 5AM to see the sunrise over the city all while joking that the big fireball in the sky trumps fireworks.  Honestly, it was probably the best 4th of July I've had, though the one I posted about earlier this week is a solid second!

So yes, I saw Jurassic World!  I really like dinosaurs so I needed to see this movie.  I next to never make it to the theaters because honestly I am more of a TV show and documentary person, but this was on I had to see on the big screen.  I knew nothing about Jurassic World other than that Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard were in it.  I was stoked to see Jake Johnson appear on the screen, because not only is he (IMHO) one of the best working comedic actors but I'm a die hard New Girl fan.  I thought aspects of the plot were half baked and the dialogue was occasionally atrocious, but I seriously loved the movie anyway.  A few things I didn't see coming, so yay for being unpredictable, Jurassic World.  And the stuff I just said about what was lacking in the film made it funny for me, and therefore more enjoyable.  No regrets!
Segue into my dinosaur dress by Retrolicious/Folter Clothing!  When this print debuted this spring I nearly had a heart attack.  I love the quirky prints of Retrolicious and I needed this dress to be mine.  This dress is currently sold out at ModCloth and Folter Clothing, and I snagged one of the last ones at Pinup Girl Clothing (which is now also officially sold out there).  Rumor has it that they won't be restocked until the fall, but this dress is in fact being restocked.  High in demand, no?
The name of this post could have been Jurassic World, duh.  But I opted for Dinosaur World.  Does that sound familiar to anyone?  There's this random DARK comedy from the 90s that references a "Dinosaur World" and I have loved it since I was a kid.  It's called "Clifford" and it's with Martin Short, Charles Grodin, and Mary Steenburgen.  Martin Short plays a ten year old boy (despite that he's actually 40 in real life) who's obsessed with dinosaurs and won't rest until he makes it to Dinosaur World, much to the headache of his uncle, Charles Grodin.  Some of my favorite quotes come from that movie, but I won't share them here because a) out of context a few are a little weird and b) it's not like this movie is as widely known like Tommy Boy or Dumb and Dumber; I'm not sure how many of y'all would follow what I'm quoting.  But if you haven't seen it and like twisted comedies, you need to see this film!

Now, we haven't met in real life.  Or at least, 90% of you have not (and I'm even low balling that).  But, I'm a goof.  If you put me in a dinosaur dress, in front of a camera, this will happen EVERY time:
Hehe.  Ok, enough silliness!  I decided to wear these gladiator boots that I got from Zulily (brand: Cleopatra...which runs a little big, by the way.  I'm going to put shoe pads in them in hopes of making them more my size) because it seemed like the perfect mix of summer and fierceness (not that the dresses needed any extra fierceness!).  The bag is Melie Bianco, and I've had it for close to two years.  I got the bag via DSW, which is also where I got these earrings (which are on clearance now!).
To get on the wait lists for this dress here's where it is being sold (at different price points, I may add):
I got this dress in part because I'm going to a concert in two weeks that has nothing to do with dinosaurs, but given one of the words in their band name...it seemed hilariously appropriate to wear this dress to their show.  Anyone think they can solve the riddle as to who I'm seeing??
Okay...last photo of me being a raptor...or something!

  18. Mmm... I could say two names of bands, but I am not sure, so I will wait for you to tell us about the concert in 2 weeks :) I love Martin Short, he is so funny! I saw Jurassic Park, and I am such a child sometimes, I could even scream, so embarrassing. Not Jurassic World, Jurassic Park. Now, your dress is amazing! I have a dino T-shirt, but nothing like this amazing dress, I loved it! And the shoes too! Together they really look fabulous, and you too, of course!
