Scottie Dogs & Polka Dots

Greetings!  I don't know about you fellow fashion bloggers, but it took me a LONG time to get used to posing with "just me" for a camera.  I still have my moments of resistance, but lately I've been having a TON of fun with outfit shoots.  As I've mentioned before, it's been a rough road I've traveled on as of the past few years.  Lately I've finally been able to channel an inner happiness from my complete making, regardless of external forces.  If something good is happening, great, then that just adds to my life!  If something less than fun pops up, then that sucks and I take a few minutes to process, but I do my best with a 99% success rate to just bounce back and look within to be happy.  This has definitely translated into taking outfit photos.  I've just been opting to have fun and geek out with it, regardless of how subconscious I feel, how many people are walking by or if it's threatening to rain and what have you.  I think it's made an improvement in my pictures; perhaps I'm biased but I've been liking my photos a lot more lately!  Do you guys love taking photosets for blog posts or does it more often than not feel silly to you?
Since the belt that came with this skirt is a polka dot print, I opted to go full on polka dot for the rest of the outfit.  This shirt is from Forever 21, but believe it or not it's from the year 2006!!  I don't wear it too often anymore, but I saw it in my closet and immediately thought it should be paired with this skirt.  I have these wedges I got from Marshalls two years ago that tied in perfectly, along with these B&W polka dot sunglasses my mom gave to me.  Even my necklace (from H&M) are circular so it somewhat fits with the motif!  Rounding it off I added my NicCoco Creations pink flower that I got from Unique Vintage.

I got this skirt on sale at ModCloth, but it's currently sold out.  That said, it still is on sale at Unique Vintage.  The reviews have been somewhat scathing because it cited as running a bit small.  I'm usually a XS in this brand (Hell Bunny) but they listed the waist on UV as a 24 inch waist, and all reviews said it was way too small in all sizes so I sized up with a size Small.  I think I'm glad I did...but I'm also glad this has a belt for this alleged 26 inch waist skirt (my true waist size).  It's not big...but it's also not tight or even a perfect fit.  I suppose if I had risked an XS that may have been too tight, so I have no regrets.  Regardless, I'm glad to have this skirt in my collection because not only do I seem to have an unending amount of polka dots in my wardrobe, I also love collecting dog prints as a life long dog lover!!

  3. Cutie pie!! I have that skirt, too, and wear it all the time. That was a good idea to pair it with a polka dot top to match the belt! :)

    1. YOU were the one that introduced me to the skirt, missy ;)

  4. You look super cute! Such an adorable skirt! <3

  5. Love the outfit! :) And yeah, I definitely still feel self conscious once in awhile. If I'm in my yard or something not so much, but I haven't worked up the bravery to take that many pictures where people can see yet--I admire the people who can just have at it xP

    1. Even in a private space, the idea of photos with just me and hamming it up for the camera makes me slightly uneasy...STILL! Lol. But I'm getting there!

  6. I am dying over the print on your skirt! It's so cute!

  7. Loving your outfit, such a great combo with matching it!! I only take my photos at home, because I'm too self conscious having people watching/looking etc.

  8. You look so beautiful!!

  9. You look so darling and this skirt is the cutest!!! You always look like you're having so much fun in your photos too. My other business, besides my blog, is photogrpahy actually so I'm used to the canera and the stares I sometimes get. Oh well haha.

    1. Haha, I hear that as I've done photography work as well. I think I'm more self conscious in front of the camera, with an audience or not, for sure! XO

  10. Such a lovely skirt! The pattern is too cute!

  11. I too get very self-conscious about having my pictures taken. I do not like when people are around or staring so I avoid that if possible. LOL!
Love your cute retro look! That printed skirt is just adorable!

  12. You look amazing dear! Love that skirt

  13. You look great! That skirt is adorable! I also get rather self-conscious taking photos. I usually try to find a very quiet, not populated area or I feel like a buffoon. Haha. But I'm hoping to get over that one of these days.

    Hope all is well!

  14. Adorable skirt!

  15. Hello,

    Very nice ! :D

  16. You look adorable on this skirt. It's always a little nerve racking to take pictures in public. I try to take them at unpopulated locations.

    1. Thank-you! Your pictures are always so fun too!!! I'm surprised (impressed) that you've found so many locations that are so stunning and have had some privacy! XO

Hey, all!  I'm a big baseball fan and my mom is from Chicago so I grew up hearing about the Cubs history and am pretty amped to be here at game 7!  Anyone else into this year's World Series or have a fan favorite they're rooting for?
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post showing my fandom!  I decided to be silly and wear my Cubs tee with a skirt (same as my zombie skirt) from Retrolicious via ModCloth with bears all over them...get it?  Hehe. I'm not into totally normal sports attire, as I exhibited HERE. Stay safe tonight if you're out watching tonight!

Comedy and Tragedy

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.  I generally hate cliche quotes that can easily be slapped on memes or on the coffee mug of a basic b!tch, but I'm hard pressed to find a better phrase to describe my life currently.  In short: I've been having the most fun that I've ever had in the eight months since I moved to LA, but then the emergency breaks got slammed on my life when my mother fell gravely ill and passed away two weeks later on June 6th.
I'm currently back in LA, after being gone for three weeks.  I'm looking forward to continuing my comedy journey, as I feel it will save me from myself at this time.  But while I'm functioning okay as I'm still in a great deal of shock and my current mode is auto pilot, certain hours of the day prove to me that I'm very jumbled up and confused about my mom's passing.  I suddenly don't know what I'm in for and I don't know what I'm doing.
Not knowing what I'm doing …
