Vacation Fashion

Hey all!  Since the fall I've ceased doing my series Weekend Fashion in which I would write about what I wore over the weekend and why I chose to pair things together.  Between shorter days, wetter days, a ton of bad weather, and wanting to keep some aspects of my life private it became a series that was nearly impossible to keep up with.  I'm debating bringing it back for the summer, but I have yet to 100% decide.  For now I thought I'd do a post that was similar to my Weekend Fashion posts with some outfit photos from my recent trip!  I didn't share them all with you on Instagram because some nights I went out to dinner after the sunset, so I took those photos on my point and shoot and didn't upload them onto my computer immediately.  Here they are!

I love, love, love these dress(?) shorts.  They're from Forever 21 and they have an elastic waist band in the back so I suppose it's technically possible they could double as pajama bottoms...but I prefer them as dress shorts!  They're the staple shorts I bring on every trip, thinking surely I'll use them for going out to at least brunch, or it nothing else an impromptu pool cover up but nope!  I never wear them.  So on this trip I pulled them out the first night out!  They were super fun to dress up with my big beaded necklace.  My usual rule is to limit the amount of skin I show, meaning if I'm showing off my legs in shorts I won't be showing off my shoulders.  I broke this rule for two reasons: 1) the beaded necklace adds the aura of being (slightly) more covered up and 2) ...it is Florida.  #wheninrome

I'm a sucker for tropical prints and I have been trying to infuse more yellow into my wardrobe.  When ModCloth introduced this dress earlier this winter at 40% off initially, it was impossible to refuse.  I love that it's versatile in that women could have probably worn a dress like this in any decade.  This was an obvious choice to bring on a Florida vacation!
Also, the print of the dress almost identically matches the print of a Kate Spade purse I own.  How fun is that?

This was another fun look that I got to sport.  I got this dress on super discount last spring.  It's an XS and it's honestly a little tight on me.  That's part of why I haven't worn it a ton (I couldn't return it).  But I had a happy accident with this dress as there was originally a strap that made this dress a halter dress.  The button that secured the strap to the dress bursted off one time and at first I was really bummed but then I realized it was a blessing in disguise.  Part of why the dress felt too tight was that the halter strap was too tight.  And the bust is tight enough to work as a strapless dress, so I cut off the part of the strap that was sewn into the dress and voila!  A dress that now fits perfectly!

Remember...dressing up to fly isn't that hard, or at least it shouldn't be!
Outfit Details: Cardigan- Banana Republic, Dress- Bernie Dexter, Boots- Soda
My shoes are comfortable but fun, the dress is not restrictive, and I have a cardigan to keep warm in the event of the plane being chilled.  Frankly this is more comfortable than jeans (which coming home to snow forced me to wear on the way back) and a helluva a lot more fun.  Just saying- it takes as much effort to look presentable while flying and it really isn't a comfort inconvenience!
